Hublot recently got a pretty bad rap. Brands are often dismissed as the joke butt of online commentators, but I don’t think this is completely fair, so in today’s episode we’re looking at the other side of things. RJ, Thomas, and Nacho each have given three reasons why you should buy a Hublot or consider buying one of the branded watches. Before that, we’ll briefly review the brand’s history, from its founding in 1980 by Italian watchmaker Carlo Crocco in 1980 to the chapters of Jean Claude Biver and the current stewardship of (former Zenith CEO) Julian Torne. So if you want to hear why you feel like Hublot deserves more love than you get, then just tune in to this week’s episode. But now it’s time to check your wrists!
Wrist check
You guessed it! The VPC Type 37HW is the only watch on Thomas’ wrist these days. This guy is a powerful ambassador for his brand, and that’s nothing wrong.
Next is RJ wearing the Grand Seiko ref. SBGR023. This double signature reference features a 37mm case and a shiny black dial, which is quite aging. Come back from service with fresh bezels and ready to spend plenty of time on your wrists. The only question is, how long does RJ wear it before going back to Gold?
And finally, Nacho has been wearing his beloved Seiko 7002 since 1993. And while the originality of the wear remains somewhat questionable, it’s still nice to watch. If you want to read the full story about this, check out Nacho’s first post on Fratero.
Fratello Talks: Why Should You Buy Hublot?
Today, Fratello Talks is not saying you have to buy a Hublot. We’re just looking at a few reasons why we might consider giving a brand a chance. Like many of you, we know the extensive commentary that was made at a lot of jokes and brand cost, but today we abandon our biases and consider positive things. You need to tune to know more, but in the meantime we want to hear what you think. What do you think about Hublot? Do you appreciate the benefits of branded watches and the diversity of bold designs? Or does that space age aesthetic push things beyond your comfort zone? Are there any models that resonate with you in particular?
Please let us know in the comments below. And join us next week on a new episode of Fratello Talks. Special guests join us to discuss the latest limited edition watches. One of them will arrive later than usual at 6:00 PM CEST on Thursday, June 26th.
