Summer means swimming in sunny blue sky, bright colours, lakes, pools or oceans. That’s exactly what the new Swatch Scubaqua collection seasons. It’s fun for summer. The translucent watch is large, bold and colorful. They take inspiration from elegant fluorescent jellyfish that swing with currents. Options include bold blue, red, or yellow in combination with white bioceramic or a more modest all-black or clear white version. Which one will you go?
Since introducing the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection, Swatch has focused on the brand’s more water-resistant watches. Once upon a time there was a lot of them in the collection, and Scuba appears to be ready for a comeback. Let’s take a quick look at these colorful jellyfish.
Swatch Scubaqua Collection
The new Swatch Scubaqua collection is a highly branded brand with a bold 44mm case and facial colour. The watch is 15.4mm thick, with 51.5mm from lug to lug. These dimensions can be a bit scary, especially if you like small watches like me. However, these watches weigh less than 37 grams including the strap due to a mix of “biosorting materials”, matte bioceramics and silicon, making them still lovely and lighter on your wrists. The rug is also quite curved, with the silicone straps holding your wrists like jellyfish tentacles.

Each version comes with a combination of transparent and non-transparent parts. You can choose from yellow egg yolk, blue fire, red lion mane, black sea nettle, and Aurelia aurita white. The one-way dive bezel features a dark printing glow, like a marker of raised time and hands. Interestingly, the push-pull crown is not at 3 or 4 o’clock, but instead in a rather unconventional location of 10.

Complete or semi-transparent
The white scubac dial is completely transparent, with the hands being red, yellow and blue. This is similar to other completely transparent clocks in the Swatch catalog. For other colors, the hands will match the colors of the case, strap and printing. I’m a fan of a completely transparent, clear model of the swatch, so the white scubac is my favorite.
What’s great about these new Swatch Scuba Quar models is that they are water resistant to 10 bar, or about 100 meters. This means you don’t have to be careful about the water and can easily be taken to swim. It makes them very suitable as a summer watch. The bold colours will make you smile, and the featherweight case won’t get in the way of any of your plans.

Which one is your favorite?
The Swatch Scubaqua model costs 155 EUR / 150 US dollars / 135 pounds / 135 pounds and is available online and at swatch boutiques worldwide. I was certainly a little scared when I saw the size of the paper. However, due to limited weight and the rugs are nicely curved, the scuba qua is worn very comfortably on the 17cm wrist. As mentioned before, Aurelia aurita is my favorite, passed. But if you’re a fan of a big, bright clock, egg yolk, blue fire, or lion’s mane may be perfect for you.
