For us in the Northern Hemisphere, summer is just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about your daily clock for the next few months. Switching the straps is an easy way to change the look of your watch, but more and more brands are beginning to cater to those who want colorful watches for the summer. This gives you many options. With the introduction of these colorful Rado Anatom models, the brand is currently offering a trio of summer celebrating with the distinctive retro looks of the Anatomy series. Over the next few months, I had the opportunity to know if that would lead to a winning combination.
I feel that reintroducing Rado in the Anatom series is a major move. Not only is the positive feedback from fans, it also has a special relationship with Rado’s black ceramic watches from the 1980s. As I explained in my review of the Rado Anatom series ceramic bracelet, my mother loved the watches of that time. Because of this, I spent quite a bit of time checking out them in the shop windows during my family’s summer holidays. In that context, reviewing these new watches is a great opportunity to see if they are needed for future summer holidays.
The story of the Rado Anatom Automatic Summer series
Let’s get started Put this new trio’s watch into context. Essentially, they are newer versions of Rado Anatom Automatic. Last year, Rex gave a practical review of the blue dial version, comparing it to the original from the 80s. Without exception, all of my colleagues and I agreed that it is great to see new anatomy. In addition to that, Rado has released two additional variations. The first has a brown gradient dial, and the third has a green gradient dial. All three models appear on black rubber straps to create a stylish trio of watches.
For a new summer addition to the lineup, Rado decided to create a colorful dial and match the corresponding rubber strap to the watch. This led to a trio of bright, colorful anatomical variations of summer fruit-inspired colors, including lemon yellow, grapefruit red and lime green. All three watches feature matching dials and straps, giving them a bright, summery feel.
Specifications for the Rado Anatom Automatic Summer Series
As Lex explained, the watch features a case consisting of a matte black ceramic bezel and a center of black PVD treated stainless steel. Apart from curved sapphire crystal, that may sound a bit inexplicable, as the “bezel” is the main case element you’ll find when wearing a watch. You can only see the middle case when the watch is turned around. It’s a somewhat interesting way to explain things, but Rex explained it pretty well. “The shaped sapphire crystal flows smoothly into the brushed bezel, with steel accents between the matte ceramic and the rubber strap acting as a boundary marker.”
Unlike the previous three versions, this marker connects to a colorful strap rather than a black rubber strap. The visual effect of this is a more pronounced case shape. The first three models have almost a bracelet-like presence, while the new models look like summer watches of the future. The case is 32.5mm wide, 46.3mm long, and 11.3mm thick. With a 50m water resistance rating, the Anatom Watch is not suitable for deep sea exploration, but it can certainly withstand refreshing dips in the ocean or in the pool.
The lively dials from the Rado Anatom Automatic Summer series
All three dials feature colorful centers that quickly transition to black. The black part of the dial has a bright index and a date window applied at 6 o’clock. The date disc is black and the numbers are printed in white, so it is compatible with time markers and styles. In a thorough inspection, the lime green dial reveals a slightly different horizontal brush finish from the red versions of lemon yellow and grapefruit.
As mentioned above, the three watches are equipped with colorful straps that correspond to the color of the dial. These extremely flexible straps come with a foldable folding of ceramic and brushed stainless steel, allowing you to easily place your watch on your wrist.
It’s even easier with the mechanism that stretches the clasp when fastened to the wrist. It’s a lovely little detail that enhances daily practicality, and that’s exactly what you want in a great summer watch.
Inside the Rado R766 caliber
Powering the three watches is the same R766 movement as the previously released Anatom automatic model. This self-winding caliber is based on the ETA 2892-A2. It runs at 21,600VPH, has 21 gems and offers a 72-hour power reserve. Additionally, it is equipped with a co-magnetic nivoklon hair spring.
Wear the Rado Anatom Automatic Summer series
These watches shine on your wrist. The shape of the case and comfortable elastic straps make them a joy to wear. The biggest difference from the regular anatomy model is that the bright straps quickly make the watch stand out.
The vibrant colors pop visually and remind you that you regularly wear special watches. I was surprised at how much I liked the three watches. Before this review I would have had the pure idea of preferring the three versions that came out previously, primarily because of their black aesthetics. That’s what these watches should be, right?
Well, these watches target different environments and times, creating different contexts. Because of this, they do their job very well. They also feel that they are less direct with their 1980s peers. It is possible to make simple changes in color. These watches feel like a suitable summer alternative to the automatic models of regular anatomy. All three are available for 3,750 euros.
Final Thoughts on the Rado Anatom Automatic Summer Series
Will one of these three Rado Anatom automatics be my summer watch? Honestly, it’s not because I don’t like these colorful versions. Simply put, another anatomy model stole my heart.
The plasma version of the Radoanatom with a ceramic bracelet I reviewed last week has been in my mind constantly ever since I wore it. It perfectly provides everything I like about ceramic rad watches. Therefore, it hit the correct chords exactly, combining my favourite memories with the joy of wearing a modern watch watch.
That being said, if you love the aesthetics of anatomy and are looking for something different this summer, one of these three new models could be perfect. After all, summer watches should be colorful, comfortable to wear and suitable for all the leisure activities the season brings. That’s exactly these summer Radore Anatom automatic models.
