Buffy Acacia The Vulcain clock from the TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport has been converted into a table clock format. It has three independent dials that can be synchronized or set to different time zones. It is powered by three Swiss Ronda quartz movements and has a five-year battery life.
When a watch brand has a history that goes back decades or even centuries, they can dig into their old catalogue to breathe new life into it, and Vulcain has been doing this ever since its rebirth. Lots of love for Vulcan Cricket It has been supported by successive US presidents and recently Nautic Skin DiverBut Vulcain has a lot more in store than just watches: the company’s latest project is a miniature recreation of Vulcain’s contributions to the country’s landmarks.
A three-sided Vulcain clock hangs from the spacious concrete ceiling of the TWA Flight Center. Once a bustling terminal at New York’s JFK International Airport, it’s now been converted into a luxury hotel, preserving its fine architecture. Opened in 1962, the building The TWA Flight Center was a shining example of modernist art.The ceiling reflects the theme of wings and flight, highlighting what is special about the age of jet travel, and although the Vulcain clock was actually installed shortly after the terminal opened, it still fits perfectly with the original concept.
In converting it to a table clock format, the TWA Flight Center clock has been inverted; the domed base has been machined vertically, A little piece of Art DecoThe watch globe stands on three legs like an alien landing pod. Actually separate clocks, the three dials feature bold Arabic numerals printed on them for legibility from afar, and the Vulcain logo at 6 o’clock. All of this sits on a silvery base with a sunburst texture, adding dynamics of light as the viewing angle changes.
When you look at this watch as a stand for three smaller watches, its versatility begins to make sense. Each dial is powered by its own movement, which can be set by pulling out the dial and using the hidden crown. When all three dials are synced, the watch displays the time in 360 degrees; when not, each dial can be set to a different time zone, embracing the design’s journey origins.
The color of the watches is described as a warm light gray, but more specifically relates to Pantone 2323 U. It’s a vague shade between antique gold and silver, with a distinct hint of taupe. This allows it to reflect warm or cool light temperatures and fit seamlessly into almost any space. Each watch is powered by a Swiss Ronda 712 quartz caliber and has a battery life of approximately 5 years on 371 button cells. The overall watch is 126mm tall and 83mm in diameter.
