The Orient Bambino was the first mechanical watch for many watch enthusiasts. Its classic look punches far higher than its affordable price, and the display case tickles the hearts of many new enthusiasts. This year, Orient is celebrating its 75th anniversary. On that occasion, the Japanese watchmaker introduced two limited edition Bambino models with a white dial. One has three 40.5mm lattices and the other is the 41.5mm version, with two additional subdials on the weekday indicator and Sun & Moon (day/night) display. The former is limited to 9,500 units, while the latter is limited to 5,500 units. Let’s take a look before they sell out.
In addition to the two limited edition models, Orient introduced unlimited, colorful versions of the same two models. For three people, there are green, blue, red and beige versions. The unrestricted Bambino sun and moon are also green, blue and red. To see a better look at all options, check out the official Orient website.
Orient Bambino Limited Edition 75th Anniversary
Let’s start with three people today. As mentioned above, its stainless steel case is 40.5mm in diameter. The lug ranges from tip to tip to tip to 46.5mm, and the watch is 12.3mm thick. The lug and bezel top have a refined finish, but the case flank displays horizontal brushing. The understated signed crown has a classic design and comes in push/pull varieties. The dial is certainly white, but there is also a very subtle sunburst texture that brings it a bit more vibrant.
The hourly markings are either a Roman numeral engraving or a rose gold finish baton index, except at 3am, as there is a date window cutout there, so it is either a baton finish. The double chapter ring has a classic look and feel, with Arabic numbers for every five minute interval. Below the position below 12:00, there is the Orient logo from the 1950s and the “auto” specification, similar to the “water-resistant” text from 6:00 onwards. It’s good to know that these watches are actually water resistant, but the 30m rating is limited.

The sharp hands are characterized by blue coatings that can be seen from all angles. Finally, the watch appears on a beige leather strap with a quick release spring bar and a signed stainless steel pin buckle. As mentioned earlier, this limited edition of the brand’s 75th anniversary is available in 9,500 production runs.
Orient Bambino Sun & Moon Limited Edition 75th Anniversary
The second limited edition Bambino, celebrating Orient’s 75th anniversary, has a slightly larger case with a width of 41.5mm. That size corresponds to two additional complications that can be found in the center of the dial. Therefore, the lug-to-lug is a little longer at 47mm and the case is slightly thicker at 14.2mm. The stainless steel case has the same type of finish as the smaller model. It also has the same dial style with a white base, a layer of gold with stamped Roman numerals and baton mixture and roses, and a window at the 3 o’clock date. The time indicates that it is the same set of hands as the distinctive blue paint job.
At 10am there is a weekday indicator subdial. This subdial has a step-by-step design and a circular pattern at its center. The second sub-dial, between 4am and 5am, appears to be attached to the dial with two screws (I don’t think it’s very unlikely for the price of this watch). This subdial features a circular texture in the chapter ring, a central sunburst texture, and colorful sun and moon discs with animations day and night. This time, the Orient logo and “automatic” text are located in a biased position at 2 o’clock.
This Orient Bambino Sant & Maan is on the same beige leather strap as the three hand versions. Like that model, the display caseback carefully looks at the internal automatic movements inside. This version, commemorating the brand’s 75th anniversary, is a limited edition of 5,500 pieces.
Equipped with internal movements
The three-hand Bambino powers are the automatic Orient F6724 movement, and the Sun & Moon version runs on the automatic Orient F6B24. Both calibers operate at a frequency of 21,600VPH, with 22 gems and hold a power reserve of 40 hours. The finishing touches on the movement itself are very limited, but the rotors feature shallow sculptures that include the company’s logo. The crystal on the caseback features an Orient logo from the 1950s and a “75th Anniversary” text, with the surrounding steel rings showing whether it’s 5,500 or 9,500 pieces.

On the wrist
With the recent 38mm Bambino appearing to be a huge hit, I think it’s surprising that Orient has won a big 40.5mm size in this 75th Annual Limited Edition three-hand version. Anyway, the 40.5mm version is still impressed with its highly competitive price range. Wearing an Orient Bambino allows people to easily mistake it for something at a higher price. The subtle sunburst effect of the off-white dial makes them look silky soft, with the slightly raised numbers in the rose gold colour providing a fantastic visual accent. Plus, the beige suede strap matches the overall aesthetic very well, giving the watch a little more casual look.
For three people, it costs 345 euros and for the sun and moon, the Orient Bambino limited edition 75th anniversary model is as affordable as usual. What Orient can offer for under 500 euros is impressive. Of course, the hands are not thermally blue, no indexes applied, and the overall finish is basic. However, for mechanical watches in this price range, it’s difficult to find something that can compete with the Orient Bambino. Ultimately, that’s why it’s such a huge blow to young and beginner watch enthusiasts.
