Last month, I visited the Trilobe booth at Watches and Wonders 2025. It was the first time I’d seen a branded watch, but they impressed me. The Parisian company depicts time uniquely through its work. The latest UNE Folle Journée Rhodium-Plated Green is a wearable modern watch in a new colorway.
I’m always skeptical when I look at the watch on an unorthodox display. Is it possible to improve two or three handsetups for ages? Trilobe insists on another style that allows you to read the time easily. Green’s latest Une Folle Journée may seem confused from afar, but the concept works.
Trilobe Une follejournée Rhodium-plated green
Trilobe introduced the green and rhodium versions of the UNE Folle Journée. This is a watch with a movement that is either blue or black with rhodium-plated or black finish. Unlike other futuristic concept pieces, this watch is wearable in a 40.5mm x 48mm grade 5 titanium case. The thickness of 17.8mm is a potential prediction, but bubble-like sapphire crystal is the cause of 10.2mm. Another surprise is the handy 50m depth rating of the watch. Looking underwater on this dial will be a treat! However, don’t forget to replace the green crocodile strap for a better choice.
Amazingly logical way to communicate time
The latest Trilobe dial consists of three decentralized, non-overlapping rings. Working from inside to outside the “dial” will rotate the green and rhodium-plated rings to display seconds, minutes and hours. A small red triangle sits at the bottom of the dial, marking the current time. The inner ring for a few seconds of running is a bit challenging to read accurately, but the hours and minutes are logical.
The large dome provides an unobstructed view
I think the Une Folle Journée could work with another crystal design, but that means adding a level or thick, milky edge. Instead, Trilobe took a shock-and-way approach with a highly domed sapphire crystal with a reflective coating. The result is a bold statement type piece.
X-centered micro rotor movement
Trilobe uses an X-centered micro-rotor automatic caliber with UNE Folle Journée Green. The 196-part movement was designed in France and was built by Le Sercur des Hologgers in Ratchakde-Fons, Switzerland. The frequency is 28,800Vph and is a 48-hour power reserve. For the green model, all plates and bridges are rhodium-plated.
On the wrist
Usually, clocks like the Trilobe Une Folle Journée are interesting to observe, but ultimately they lack daily use. This watch is an exception as it is reasonably sized and the lightweight titanium case enhances comfort. Plus, the colour is gorgeous to the skin. I only had a few minutes on my watch, but I had no problem telling the time right away at a glance.
Pricing and availability
The new Trilobe Une Folle Folle Journée Rhodium plated green costs 20,400 euros (excluding VAT) and has a delivery time of 4 months. There are other watches with very domed crystals, openwork dials and attractive displays. Most of them are multiples higher than the UNE Folle Journée, and this piece looks like a relatively reasonable product. The finish is impressive, and the in-house movement design shows the brand’s serious intentions. If you’re traveling to Paris or a city with a certified retailer, why not meet in person?
