With the watch world holding its breath ahead of Geneva Watch Days, Tudor took the opportunity to debut a new blue colorway for the Black Bay Chrono. This latest edition also features the fan-favorite five-link bracelet that was only introduced on the model earlier this year. First introduced in both Panda and Reverse Panda versions, the latest version of the Black Bay Chrono now features some unexpected pink accents. Today’s blue colorway is a bit more muted, which is fitting for the brand.
Does it feel like deja vu? It certainly does to me. Two years ago, on August 30, 2022, just before GWD, Tudor introduced one of their most highly acclaimed and popular models, the Pelagos 39. This small titanium watch won the GPHG the following year. Perhaps the brand is trying to recreate the magic, or maybe it’s just taking the opportunity to pounce on the global watch media while they’re in town. Either way, let’s take a first look at this latest addition to the Black Bay Chrono family.
The New Tudor Black Bay Chrono Blue
If you’re like me, you always think of Bob Dylan and Badfinger when you hear the words “Black Bay Blue.” But whereas Dylan sang “It’s all over now” in 1965, Badfinger’s sentiment in 1971 was “A special love I’ve got for you.” With Tudor’s latest release today, I think we should stick with the latter. It’s a bit of a truism to say, but the color blue is nothing new to Tudor, or to watches, or even to the broader world. In other words, the brand isn’t doing anything revolutionary here. Compared to the pink Black Bay Chrono, this is a very tame release (albeit one that features a more pronounced sunburst-style finish), but this one simply makes sense.

Although blue is not new, it remains very popular. It has also had a special place in Tudor’s sports watch lineup for a long time. We all know the beautiful blue Tudor “Snowflake” sub that inspired the Black Bay Blue, Pelagos, and Pelagos FXD. So it makes perfect sense that the Black Bay Chrono will be coated in a new “Tudor Blue”. According to the brand, this is more of a concept than a specific shade, so the brand doesn’t need to try to be consistent with the shades they use. While the pink BB Chrono’s signature shade was limited to the dial, in this case, the blue treatment extends to the chronograph’s tachymeter bezel. Both subdials are given a silver tone, creating a reverse panda aesthetic. Personally, I think it’s a great look for the watch.
As for whether Tudor’s color experiments are “all over” I feel (and sincerely hope) that they are not (sorry, Mr. Zimmerman).
lastly
Finally, there are some details worth noting. As mentioned at the beginning, this is Tudor’s second iteration of the Black Bay Chrono with a five-link bracelet. The clasp is equipped with a T-Fit quick-adjust system for added comfort. Otherwise, it has the same 41mm x 49.8mm x 14.4mm stainless steel case and houses Tudor’s COSC-certified manufacture caliber MT5813. This movement features a silicon escapement and a 70-hour power reserve. See below for the rest of the specifications. Price-wise, it’s priced at 5,720 euros on the stainless steel bracelet, the same price as the pink model. This model will be sold exclusively at Tudor boutiques worldwide.
Now available in a versatile new blue colorway, the Black Bay Chrono is sure to be a hit — and a key part of any well-coordinated Canadian tuxedo. Let us know what you think of this latest release from Tudor in the comments section below.
