In September 2024, AblogTowatch joined Cupertino’s Apple, joining the launch of the Apple Watch Series 10 and this new version of the Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Apple Watch Series 10 is a new family of 2024 Apple Watches, but this black Apple Watch Ultra 2 is an extension of the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2. This creates an asymmetry between the two flagship smartwatch devices on the Apple Watch Series 10. It also includes a new, honestly incredibly matching titanium mesh mesh metal bracelet (black or natural titanium), designed exclusively for the Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Apple appears to be a little off the annual upgrade cycle for all smartwatches. Each New Year has fresh products and appearance, but the market doesn’t necessarily always need or need a whole new device. This presents an interesting dilemma. On the one hand, because consumers who buy watches (smart or other) want to last for at least several years. Mechanical watch buyers often prefer the idea that their watch will last for a lifetime (in theory). Meanwhile, at speeds in which technology software and hardware are running, Apple must either be ahead of the curve or remain very competitive almost always. This creates complex strategic challenges when trying to decide how to upgrade your product. Also, knowing when your Apple Watch fans will upgrade and what to upgrade can be somewhat stressful. There are a lot of people who have Apple Watch Ultra (1 or 2) (1 or 2), wondering if the new features in the Apple Watch Series 10 deserve a change, or if they still want to stick to the new Apple Watch Ultra Eco-System, or if they only want to upgrade if there is virtually new one in the Apple Watch Ultra Arena.
My doubt is that I remain somewhat loyal to the Apple Watch product family that will make Apple Watch users comfortable. This means that Apple Watch Series 10 wearers don’t necessarily wear Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch Ultra fans prefer concepts and profiles. Again, this is my professional guess and actually makes things easier for Apple. Because you don’t have to compete with many users who are shaking from the Apple Watch family to another product family. So many fans of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 know that new technology in the Apple Watch Series 10 is likely to reach the Apple Watch Ultra. I just wanted to have that brief discussion about the various Apple Watches that you can buy from.
If you can’t choose two different Apple Watches, I recently discovered a new feature that allows you to seamlessly swap multiple Apple Watches. This feature allows people to have different Apple Watches for various purposes (one for workouts, the other for the office, etc.) without having to pair only one Apple Watch device to their iPhone at a time. It’s the old way, and how it’s the smartwatch platform of most competitors. This means that smartphone companion software is designed to pair only with one smartwatch at a time, even if you can store multiple profiles and switch them manually (which would be a time-consuming process). I’m not entirely sure when Apple introduced the new features, but I found that my iPhone could “hand-off” various pairs of Apple Watches, giving priority to what I was wearing on my wrist. This allowed me to wear the Apple Watch Ultra 2 DLC and Apple Watch Series 10 seamlessly.
According to Apple, since they started making iPhones in black (not always an option every year), they have noticed that their customers really prefer black hardware. Many apple watches are available in black, including anodized aluminum, anodized titanium, ceramic, and coated steel. Often, these Apple Watches have a very sophisticated finish, so you can see Apple fully explore the beauty and style of the matte black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2. Looking at the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in black, it’s not that convincing as it’s a very pretty product. With its black colour and high quality industrial finish, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 gives it an even more masculine and tactical look that many would enjoy. If you have a naturally finished titanium apple watch Ultra 2, it’s not necessarily a game changer, but what kind of difference is there?
I think this is a good opportunity to mention that Black’s Apple Watch Ultra 2 costs less than the natural titanium version. Luxury watch brands often prefer to charge more money for coated watches or watches depicting colours, but focusing on Apple’s large economy of scale and strategic pricing means they have decided that there should not be a difference in cost between the two. That’s overall good news. Why would you want a DLC-coated titanium watch, except for the different surface colors it produces? “DLC” stands for “diamond-like carbon” and is usually applied using a physical vapor deposition process to create a protective layer over the base metal. DLC coatings have long been used in industrial applications before the watch industry that adopted this coloring technology. What makes DLC better than other shapes of black coating is its durability. People don’t want to damage or generally get damaged. As the “diamond” part of the name suggests, DLC is a very durable coating and offers much more scratch resistance when compared to many other black coating techniques. The DLC application process also differs in terms of quality and consistency. This $1,000 priced Apple’s DLC coating is far better than the similar DLC coatings on many of the gorgeous watches I’ve reviewed. In other words, Apple seems to have invested very heavily in making sure it can offer highly finished products in the market (not pure luxury). For me, it certainly is very impressive.
The Apple Watch Ultra family is very popular for its larger and more detailed cases. In fact, this watch is more durable, water resistant (100 meters) and sportier than a standard Apple Watch. That being said, there aren’t many Apple Watch Ultra 2. That’s not the case with standard Apple Watches. Apple wanted to create a more robust, “Pro” version of the Apple Watch, but we learned that it actually succeeded in fashion winning, given that the Apple Watch Ultra appears to appeal to men who haven’t chosen to wear the standard Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 agrees that many people who prefer traditional sports and adventure watches have integrated many of their “utilitarian personalities.” Also, this design is much more attractive and well-made than many other adventure smartwatches on the market, even with extremely capable software and performance. What Apple knows better than most tech companies is that most consumers need good looking products – before they work well for them – in the process of purchasing decisions.
Remember that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is 49mm tall (46mm high of the Apple Watch Series 10), making it the largest Apple Watch right now. There is also a special strap option aimed at larger case sizes, which does not fit small Apple Watches. My favourite so far is their wavy ocean band (new colors are available in 2024), and this year we introduced the Milanese loop to natural or black titanium. This is a more robust version of the steel Milanese loop bracelet available on the Apple Watch Series 10. Additionally, in addition to being made from lightweight titanium with several strong proportions, the titanium Milanese loop also has an aviation-style lock buckle. The steel version has a magnetic closure system that works well, but in serious circumstances, the watch can be pulled out of the wrist. That’s why the Titanium Milanese Loop of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has its elaborate locking mechanism.
The Milanese mesh style metal bracelet is almost new and has been a favorite of watch enthusiasts for many years. Most of these bracelets are made of steel, and thick bracelets accordingly are heavy. Titanium Milanese bracelets are very rare as they are traditionally difficult to produce and are expensive. So not only did Apple succeed in making something very good, but when purchased alone it only costs $199 for a bracelet. The last thing I remember was excited about the Titanium Milanese bracelet is this Omega Seamaster James Bond 007 watch, which costs over $9,000 (not available in black). Sadly, you can’t easily convert Apple’s titanium Milanese loop bracelet for use with other watches, but I feel that people want to do it. Everything about straps, from the lock buckle to the adjustment system to the quality of the finish, is excellent. I was really impressed. Again, let’s remind you that Apple produces titanium milanese loops that match either natural or black DLC titanium Apple Watch Ultra Watches.
My belief is that DLC-coated titanium is not a temporary concern for the Apple Watch Ultra family, as it is likely that future models will continue to be available in natural tones or black tones. I hate to be so superficial about it because the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is a truly impressive product, but the black color adds even more sexual appeal to the design for those who like smartwatch ideas, but I feel it is as uncommon as traditional watches. No, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will not replace a lover’s watch on social or formal occasions, but it will be a very capable and enjoyable daily wear. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 with Black DLC coated titanium costs USD 799. Matching Titanium Milanese Loop Bracelet costs $199. For more information, please visit the Apple Watch website.
