Last month we introduced the new Tissot PRC 100 solar quartz in the 39mm. The watch was filled with nearly repositioned admiration for its design, friendly pricing and ease of use. However, for those of us with small wrists, the size was on the wearable edge. That’s where a new 34mm version comes in.
My colleague Rex provided a detailed overview of the 39mm PRC 100 solar quartz and explained how it works. In summary, a key advantage is that the watch does not have to sacrifice the dial design because there is an underlying solar cell. Instead, the functionality is integrated into the sapphire crystal and connected to a zebra connector attached to the internal case. This sends force into highly efficient movements. But for now, get plenty, smaller PRC.
Tissot PRC 100 Solar Quartz 34mm
As the name suggests, the smaller solar quartz has a diameter of 34mm, but avoids true miniature status with a 44.6mm lug-to-lag measurement. The thickness is slimmer than the larger 9.14mm sibling. Otherwise, specifications such as water resistance are consistent at 100 meters.
4 versions so far
The PRC 100 34mm has four different references. All of them are equipped with bracelets, which differs from the 39mm model, which offers straps on some models. Each bracelet includes a push button folding clasp. Tissot has sent out the Sunburst Light Blue Dial, but the silver version is also available. Perhaps there is an example with a stainless steel bracelet with rose gold PVD and a mother-of-pearl dial to address the women’s market. Finally, the yellow gold PVD version is on sale as a flagship work.
The never-ending movement
The magic inside PRC 100 solar quartz is called “Light Master.” The aforementioned technology in a crystal pair with an ETA F06.615 base provides 14 months of power on a full charge. If, for some reason, the clock is kept in the dark for this period, there is an indicator of end of life. This is particularly noticeable when the second hand jumps for 4 seconds. Overall, it’s a fuss-free move that eliminates the need for battery changes every two to three years.
Wrist PRC 100 34mm
Many people leave their 34mm watches without trying because of the size. That’s a shame as the PRC 100 34mm fits like a comfortable jean. It’s there, but it’s not annoying at all. The 12-sided bezel adds a level of mass to your design, making it look bigger. Plus, the relatively long lug does an amazing job of helping the wrist watch feel bigger. As for the bracelet, it’s not flashy, but Tissot created a clear accompaniment that is thin and clean that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

A beautiful dial with excellent readability
Sometimes, the clock design may not translate well across different sizes. The 34mm retains the large version of the delicious look and a pleasant, clean dial layout. The applied index is decorated with white strips of Super Luminova. The hands continue to the suit and taper neatly. The slightly raised minutes of tracks with black printing match the remaining fonts on the dial. Finally, the beveled date window includes a white black date wheel. Again, the design is simple, but it is a type of watch that can be used in any environment, from casual to dressy. Moreover, it is perfectly suited to light sports efforts. In fact, if those activities are under the sun, that’s even better!
The solar grid is barely visible
It’s worth noting that the PRC 100 Solar Quartz party trick shows its hand to Crystal. The macro shot reveals a solar cell grid of sapphire crystals. Is it overly prominent or annoying? It’s not likely to happen! While the watch is on your wrist, it is essentially unperceptible. Of course, it’s worth trying it to see if your local Tissot is sharper than mine.
Complete package that is hard to ignore at this price
When Tissot dropped the PRX a few years ago, Watch Fans got hooked. The brand has changed the integrated bracelet watch market by offering authentic, high quality options. The design of the PRC 100 is edgy and not traditional, but its simple design and elegant technology probably makes it a better package. The fact that it is now smaller in size by 34mm is already a very attractive Sunday topping. Above all, pricing is extremely competitive. The price of the watch on hand is 495 euros, representing the serious value of the money. For reference, the two-tone reference is 575 euros and the Gold PVD model is 595 euros. If you’ve been waiting for a more refined watch of smaller sizes, the latest in Tishot is definitely worth a look.
