The name may ring the bell, but that’s not what you think. Bedat and Beda’a are not the same. Bedat & Co is a Geneva watch brand “for women with characters.” Beda’a is a London-based brand with Qatari roots and creates Swiss-made watches. Hader Al Suwaidi launched the brand in 2016, indicating that the Middle East region is not only a market for watches, but where the watches come from. In 2025, Engineer-Designer Sohaib Magnam works as CEO and Chief Designer, so the brand has four collections in its catalog. The 2024 solar eclipse shows time through mysterious minutes around the drug hour disc and dial, but now has a successor. The Beda’a Eclipse II is an original regulator style watch with a jump time display and unique characters. The watch is dressy and Starlight timekeeper.
The latest solar eclipse shows a great similarity to the previous solar eclipse. Both watches show time digitally. However, the first version of Eclipse did not use traditional hands, but the Beda’a Eclipse II has two. Minutes and travel seconds are shown with both hands. However, times are displayed digitally. The clock’s regulator style layout is vertical, which extends to the 6 o’clock crown arrangement.
I’m practicing Beda’a Eclipse II
What we’ll quickly show is the thoughts and attention to detail behind this display. For example, there is a multi-layer dial. The moment’s hand bends upwards, and the time disc below the bottom dial of Aventrin in the blue night mimics a bright starry night. Beneath it is a sub-second register, creating Figure 8 for a cream decoration finished with refined satin.
Please take a closer look. You can see the small second indicator on the bottom half of the dial displaying a rich textured finish with a circular brush pattern. The dial’s inspiration was found in the Qatar desert, not in London, where the brand’s management team is located.

The motif mimics the wind blowing pattern of desert sands, while the aventurine subdial reminds us of a clear night sky without light pollution. It is not found in central London.
The Beda’a Eclipse II features a modest 37mm 904L stainless steel case with a thickness of 9.55mm. The basic shape of a sophisticated brushed watch is round, but the long, prominent lug gives the watch a 47mm length, creating an elegantly clean and dynamic look.

The sensual bezel acts as a counterweight for extended watches, making the Eclipse II look robust too. The proportions and shape create a contemporary dress watch with an odd twist thanks to the 6 o’clock crown.
Crocodile or ostrich?
The watch that came to Fratello HQ had a black crocodile strap with a pin buckle. The pin buckle is great, as a rather small watch like the Eclipse II deserves a modest buckle that isn’t too big and doesn’t get too much attention. Large, clumsy folding clasps can do things they shouldn’t. You can also put the Eclipse II in an ostrich leather strap. I think you can see this with this watch. That’s not because I associate ostriches with the desert. Rather, it’s a bit more unusual than a crocodile strap, and one of the traits of this watch is that it’s not normal.

On the wrist, the Eclipse II can show unusual characters packed in sizes that are easy to taste. This watch has a serious independent luxury holloggery vibe and appears to belong to the higher priced category. You may not get the same feeling when you look at the movement inside, but that movement continues to accept the price and the watch never turns upside down on your wrist, right? Perhaps the Eclipse II is a gateway watch to adventurous, avant-garde watch pieces from brands like MB&F, Urwerk, and De Bethune.
Price and final thoughts
Now you may be interested in price. I know that will happen. Do you think the prices are based on what you’ve read so far? Well, the price of the Eclipse II is CHF 4,000. Based on the appearance and presence of the watch, it is fair. Apparently, it punches more than the weight. I didn’t want to reveal the price right away, but when I found out that the movement inside is based on the Sellita SW300 with the Dubois Dépraz jump time module, I would expect a price range of 3K-4K.
There are two ways to view the automatic caliber BMJ-01. This is the name Beda’a uses to power this watch. You can see it as a disappointment as the original, mildly luxurious, dressy, avant-garde watches require movement in the same spirit. However, you can also see the 52-hour power reserve, the stop-second mechanism, and the 4Hz caliber BMJ-01, which allows you to see its 52-hour power reserve, the stop-second mechanism, and the black rotor, as a way to allow larger viewers to enjoy the original and bold watchmaking. And despite the price, the production of watches is limited to 100 per year, so exclusiveness is still guaranteed.
What do you think? The Beda’a Eclipse II is an unexpected yet very welcome dress watch 2.0, perfect for diversifying your collection and uplifting your style? Even with Shamal blowing the Qatar desert, the strong, arid northwest winds, the playful lines and moderate proportions paired with expressive dials and digital hour displays are like a fresh breeze.
