The 25th annual celebration at Gerald Charles continues with new Maestro GC Sports Tennis. This limited edition watch offers a unique surface finish, a vibrant dial and a comfortable strap. For those who play the game regularly, this watch was made to ride the court rather than live in the audience’s booth. We are fortunate to practice this new release and are happy to share our thoughts.
Gerald Charles continues to adapt the unique case shapes to a variety of use cases. The highly complex movements, precious metal cases and innovative dial finishes explain some options in the ever-growing catalogue. Today’s new Maestro GC Sport Tennis is a more casual design take, but it works well. Above all, it is very comfortable on the wrist and can be used when playing tennis.
Gerald Charles Maestro GC Sports Tennis
Tennis is one of the few sports I still play. It’s a great game as it only requires additional participants. It also provides excellent training in a relatively short amount of time. It’s important to be comfortable when playing. It means lightweight clothing, suitable shoes and minimal accessories. But often, I choose to wear a watch. Something digital or quartz and titanium usually describes my choice. The new Gerald Charles Maestro GC Sports Tennis is trying to change my mind and the concept of others by providing a mechanical wristwatch suitable for the game.
Everything about brightness and comfort
In fact, Gerald Charles prioritizes two important attributes in Maestro GC Sports Tennis that meet my standards. Brightness and comfort are evident in the design and wearing experience. The watch starts with a 39mm x 41mm grade 5 titanium case. It also maintains a minimum thickness of 9mm, including flat Anturevesy sapphire crystal.

Speaking of reflective things, the Maestro GC Sport Tennis features a unique dark blast case. This is a unique sandblasted and coated finish that resists wear and corrosion. This material is also used in the titanium loops of the velcro straps of the optic nerve.
Other case details
GC Sports Tennis continues in the shape of the familiar Gerald Charles case. This includes step-shaped, barrel-shaped bezels and vertical lugs. From a comfortable perspective, these rugs bend to hold your wrist. The brand created an internal ergonomic standard called Ergon Tech. This makes it perfect for a variety of wrist sizes. Additionally, note the unusual placement of the under-screw crown on the left side of the case rather than on the right. This prevents the trouble and discomfort during sports activities such as tennis. A flashy jump in the pool after a game? Sports tennis has a rating of 100m depth, so you’re ready for dips.
A tennis ball-like dial color
GC Sports Tennis includes a textured optical yellow dial. However, it also has a decorative effect towards the edge. It has a 3D effect that looks like a felt tennis ball. When I saw the first photo, I didn’t know about the color scheme. But in real life, it works well and achieves the desired sporty feel. As a sports watch, the Maestro GC Sport Tennis also includes an applied index and a healthy level of Super Luminova within the hand.
Caliber 2.0
Within GC Sports Tennis, expect to find an automatic Gerald Charles Caliber 2.0 (also known as the Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier GCA3002). We’ve seen this movement with other GC watches, including the ultra-thin Lapis Lazuli. A lovely caliber to look through a sapphire display, such as the Colimaçon, Côtes de Genève, and Perlage. Performance-wise, the frequency is 28,800 VPH and the power reserve is 50 hours. The gold rotor has a distinctive honeycomb pattern, and as it is 2025, it also has the 25th anniversary logo.
Final Thoughts
The idea of sportsing a high-end mechanical watch like the Maestro GC Sport Tennis may sound a little odd, but the watch has been extensively tested by professional athletes Andrea Vavassori and Hubert Hurkacz. At 17,600 euros, Gerald Charles’ latest release is a gorgeous splurge, but it’s unique. Furthermore, if the success of previous releases like clay or grass is any indication, 200 will sell out quickly. Does anyone need this watch? No, but it’s so much fun!
