Nina is a new Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon Moon Phase, with a modern and sporty design with movements normally used in dress watches. This is the first time Piaget has used titanium for the polo’s appearance and sits at an impressive 9.8mm depth. Moon phase complications, combined with flying tour billon, measure an overall depth of 4mm, and now show off Piaget’s distinctive blue colour.
Piaget Polo has changed quite a bit since its first launch in 1979. In 2016, there was a rather dramatic transformation, adopting the golden age of Gerald Genta definition in sports watch design. However, last year on its 150th anniversary, the company revisited the chic and luxurious style of the original polo, featuring the integrated design and trademark Gadroon in the Polo 79. -Slim automatic movement.
Today, the ultra-thin movement is a solid guarantee wherever you look at the brand’s current polo products. For example, consider the more modern look of green and rose gold polo paper calendar ultratin, released in 2023. The thinnest tourbillon in the world is natural for a brand to want to showcase its talent in new ways. So here’s the new Piaget Polo Flying Tourbillon MoonPhase, and it now features a blue colour with the brand’s signature.
The most impressive thing about the new Polo Flying Tourbillon Watch is its admirable 9.8mm thinness. This spans the first 600p movement (holds the record of the thinnest shape of the tourbillon ever). P642p acquires an intake of just 0.55mm thick to compensate for the addition of monthly complications. Overall, it retains just 4mm deep and promises better accuracy than many other monthly complications on the market. It takes 122 years to build a contradiction between the accuracy of the caliber and the cycle of the natural moon.
The cushion shape of the case will quickly become familiar. The polo has a slimness and elegance that perfectly captures the zeitgeist of steel sports watches, but the use of the brand’s titanium is not as familiar. In fact, the only clue pointing to the use of titanium in polo watches can be traced back to last year’s bold and sporty polo skeleton ceramics. . Given the benefits of Steel Sports Watch Sphere, it’s surprising that Piaget hasn’t experimented with Titanium much faster for Polo designs.
The case is far from eloquent, but it spans 44mm in diameter. However, its vastness is saved by the short rugs of the polo. On the side is a lovely blue PVD coated insert decorated with gadoroon, reminiscent of the style of Piaget’s original 1979 release. The flanks of these colours, reinforced by sporty, indented sections, also match the horizontally raised dial. Given the complications and thinness of this watch, it’s reassuring that Piaget has also confirmed its rating of strong resistance of 100 meters. The Polo Flying Tourbillon MoonPhase is finished with a sporty blue rubber strap with a push button folding clasp, but also comes with an additional blue crocodile leather strap.
Of course, this new Blue Flying Tour Billon hasn’t destroyed any new records. The case is at a modest depth of 9.8mm and is more than enough to slide under the cuff. More importantly, it’s great to see Piaget do its best.
The blue slat dial on the new Polo Flying Tourbillon shows two complications throughout its surface. The tourbillon doubles the second indicator sitting in the Northern Hemisphere and the second indicator that doubles the southern lunar surface. Both complications are surrounded by blue and are set against cushioned open work sections, reflecting the shape of the case. For simple timekeeping, the Super Luminova treatment on the surface of time and fine hands allows for stripping of all other details in the middle of the night.
Piaget’s Flying Tour Bellon Moon Phase raises the stakes of complications, combining the astronomical moon phase complications with antigravity regulators thanks to the caliber p642p. This movement was first seen at the Gouverneur Tourbillon in 2012. Capture everything Piaget symbolizes – auto-holistic and thought-out design. The asymmetrical “P” shape is a feat of the watch in itself, as it had to be considered very carefully in balance and weight to prevent its deviation to chronometric speed.
Skillfully, such a balance is achieved, and the movement is hand washed with blue screws and circular main plates. Sadly, the back of the case hides much of this movement, and you can think that Piaget just wanted to limit how much wrist you can see from the front of the watch. Instead, the simple cutout on the back of the case reveals the mechanism of the tourbillon is all we get. The 40-hour power reserve and frequency of 21,600 VPH are somewhat fundamentally felt about movements that show mechanical prowess in many other areas. However, the fact that the moon phase can run accurately for 122 years until a gap for a day exists can compensate for it, as well as its 4mm thinness.
