Panerai moves quickly! After busy clocks and wonders 2025, there is already another new release. Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica has been announced in the brand’s official timekeeping role in Salone Del Mobile. This is Milan Design Week and the event is the world’s largest furniture show.
Furniture may sound like an interesting connection to Panerai, but brands see themselves as the practical creator of functional designs. Plus, futuristic materials and innovation make this link reasonable. The fact that Salone Del Mobile will take place in Milan only strengthens the partnership. But there’s enough about the fair. We’re here to see a specific new watch, the Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica.
Panerai Luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica
Naturally, this new ceramica ref. PAM01574 is made of black ceramic. It has a diameter of 44mm, and the watch uses a 1950 luminor case. This version has a depth rating of 300m, a feature that Panerai guarantees by testing 25% more than the specified specifications. To take advantage of this feature, Panerai delivers watches with both quick release blue rubber straps and matching dark blue crocodiles. Both are equipped with trapezoidal titanium pin buckles.
Panerai shared a top-level explanation of the production process for Ceramica cases. Essentially, powdered ceramics are molded. The “green” part then undergoes a sintering process, reducing the foam by ~20%. Finally, the brand craftsmen use diamond tip cutting tools to create the final curve and surface finish. It is impressive and designed to be incredibly strong and durable.
Blue Sunray Sandwich Dial
With Panerai Watch, it is important that the final product successfully integrates key elements of the brand’s design language. Ceramics may be made from advanced materials, but they can be quickly recognized as Panerai. Part of the reason is its dark blue sunray sandwich dial. Here, Panerai adds a layer of Super Luminova under the blue dial, sparkling through stencil-like cutouts. Because this is a complicated watch, the sandwich dial has more detail, including an indicator for a 72-hour power reserve. Other details include the GMT hand at the tip of the arrow.
P.9012 is a traveler’s GMT movement
The Ceramica PAM01574 uses an internal P.9012 automatic caliber. It is displayed via smoked sapphire crystal inside the Grade 5 titanium caseback. This 31 jewel movement has impressive specifications. It uses twin barrels to achieve a 3-day power reserve. Unlike some brands that achieve long power reserves by removing frequencies, Panerai designed the p.9012 to run at 28,800 VPH. Most importantly, this movement qualifies as a traveler’s GMT, as the hand of time travels in hourly increments. In addition to the hacking feature, pulling out the crown will bring the hand of a small second back to zero.
Unlimited, available
When I first saw the PR material for the Ceramica PAM01574, I thought the watch was a limited edition. The positive is that this handsome piece has been added to the regular catalogue. However, it costs 16,800 Euros / 16,500 US$ / £14,200. Again, the watch has impressive movements and a very detailed ceramic case. Normally I prefer plain Panerai with no complications, but the luminor GMT Power Reserve Ceramica PAM01574 allows you to view its details without creating a busy look. The black ceramic and dark blue dials work well. Overall, it’s a great release. Especially this is released soon after the watch or wonder.
