Hello. Welcome to this week’s episode of Fratello Talks. Today we revisit the topic of fan-favorite affordable watches. Nacho, Rex and Daan each chose one favorite from their collection that costs under 1,000 euros. When I first covered my affordable favorites, I ended up with three divers: two from Seiko and one from Citizen. Today’s selection is a little more diverse, including a steel sports watch with an integrated bracelet, a titanium GMT, and a bioceramic analogue of one of the most famous diving watches. Now, let’s check the watch in this wrist check.
list check
We’ll start with Dern, who loves the Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms Scuba Arctic Ocean Edition. Powered by the brand’s Sistem51 caliber, it’s a fun and nimble watch. However, it is only available at Swatch boutiques and is not precisely cut from the solid beater fabric you use every day. But at just 400 euros, it’s the most affordable of today’s picks. As with the MoonSwatch, opinions vary when it comes to these bioceramic watches, but Daan is a fan and we agree (with the right expectations in mind) that they’re very fun watches.
Next up is Rex wearing a Tissot PRX with an ice blue dial. This is a 40mm automatic version released in 2021 from the Le Locrian brand. The mechanical PRX is currently priced at 775 euros, which is a slight increase from the original price of 670 euros, but remains quite reasonable. We’ve talked a lot about this watch and its variations here at Fratello, but today Rex shares his story, his review, and explains why the ice blue version caught his eye. There’s a good reason why it’s a popular, affordable product.
Lastly, Nacho is wearing the Arken Alterum GMT. Splitting the difference between Daan’s Swatch and Lex’s PRX comes to £600 (approx. €715). For that price, you get a titanium GMT watch with a scratch-resistant coating, an integrated strap, a sapphire crystal, a 200m water resistance rating, and a unique solution for displaying different time zones with a 12-hour hand and day of the week. night indicator. If you want to know more about this watch and its interesting features, check out our Nacho introduction article here. These restocks will be posted on the Arken website soon. So if you missed the launch and first restock, this is your last chance to get it.
Fratello on: Our Favorite Affordable Watches Vol. 2
As we mentioned last time we covered this topic, we often write about watches that range in price from the low four figures to the five-plus figure range. That said, focusing on watches that pack a lot of “charm” into a relatively small amount of money (a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, to be exact) makes us particularly prone to owning the watches featured in this article. That means it can be a lot of fun. This price range. Therefore, our thinking comes from long-term ownership and enjoyment. However, we are well aware that affordability is a subjective issue. However, for this series we have set a strict upper limit of 1,000 euros. We understand that some of these may not be affordable for everyone, but overall they remain relatively affordable.
As always, let us know your thoughts on your favorite affordable watches in the comments section below. And of course, please share your recommendations. Don’t forget to leave your questions for the 100th episode Q&A special in the coming weeks.
Tune in next week for a new episode of Fratello Talks.
