I’m sure you’re familiar with Oris – Hölstein Editions. Otherwise, the principle is simple. Oris presents a limited edition watch every year to celebrate the brand’s birthday. This year, I will be 121 years old. This is certainly a valid reason. What clock commemorates this occasion? It’s Oris Propylot’s Helstein edition 2025.

Hölstein Editions is a platform for doing fun things that Oris usually doesn’t necessarily bother commercially. In short, these are ideas that otherwise wouldn’t do it through top brass scrutiny, so expect a gimmick or two!

Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition2025

Let’s start with the gimmicks here. The Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition 2025 features a completely covered white dial of secrets. It looks completely clinical and serious. However, please turn off the light. The Jolly Oris Bear Mascot will say hello to you!

The dial glows green from what I assume is a C3 Super Luminova. But between 3 and 4, the friendly face of the familiar Oris Bear glows in blue. It is the ghostly outline of the face, completely hidden from view when the room is not shining. Think of it as a “hiding the bear” game.

Now, if this had been released regularly, I might have put on a “serious watch lover” hat and complained about the conceptual match. What is the gimmick doing on the pilot’s watch in such a serious and murdered execution? Fortunately, none of the regular rules apply to Hölstein Editions. It’s a bit of fun targeting the most hardcore Oris fans. If you don’t feel a personal connection to Oris Bear, you probably aren’t the target audience for this. If so, I assume you are already on the Oris mailing list, and you may even have already placed your order. It almost makes me wonder who I am writing this for… well, I think it’s about you keeping up to date with all the latest news.

Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition 2025 Specification

Technically, the Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition 2025 is very similar to regular propillate. It is still a stainless steel pilot watch with a diameter of 41mm, a lug toe of 49mm and a thickness of 11.9mm. Plus, there is still a 100m water resistance rating and an oversized screw down crown.

Check the Oris Caliber 400-2 inside. Unlike the regular 400, this version does not have a date. In this sense, even with the skin gimmick, this suggester is the cleanest version of the catalog. The automatic movement offers 120 hours of autonomy and promises performance within the COSC standard (but not an officially certified chronometer). As always, our unique caliber has an extended 10-year warranty and a 10-year service interval.

Like last year’s Hölstein Edition, the case features a durable black DLC coating. The hands, numbers and dial markings are also painted black to make the most of the contrast with the sterile white dial. The Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition 2025 rests on a black fabric strap with a black “lift” clasp inspired by the plane’s seat belts. For the room fans between you, Oris adds a ring that rang into the sapphire crystal in the caseback.

Pricing and availability

The Oris Propilot Hölstein Edition 2025 is limited to 250 individually numbered pieces. These will be available from June this year through the Oris Boutiques and the Oris website, as well as through the select retailer. This Hölstein Edition costs Chf 4,150 / €4,150 / US $5,000 / £3,700.
