Orient Star brought a major revival to Europe several years ago. Since then, the brand’s M collection has been central. Grand Seiko takes inspiration from local nature, but sometimes just outside the IWATE province, just outside of Shizukyugi’s studio, Orient Star finds inspiration even further away. Furthermore, because the Orient stars are based on the dial on the heavenly body observed in the sky. It’s wise, considering the “star” part of the name that distinguishes it from the Orient brand. Orient Star’s new manufacturing technology for this launch reflects the Perseid meteor shower cascade across the night sky. This starry effect can be seen on the new black dials in 160 limited edition. Another new M34 F8 date will expand the design using a new green scene from last year. Learn more about these Orient Star Watches.
Last year, Orient Star announced the M34 F8 date in blue and white. These two watches are some of Orient Star’s most expensive releases, showing a clear shift from the more humble priced collection. Thor detailed these watches, and the initial price shock was evident in the comments. As we had time to adapt, I think the date of the M34 F8 has been one of the best watch releases from Japan in recent years. The result is a beautiful dial, but the link to Meteor Shashers is tenuous at best. However, this new limited edition with a black dial finally brings the vision of a meteor to life.
Orient Star M34 F8 limited edition
To achieve this heavenly movement, Orient Star uses a new multi-layered technology. Following its merger with Orient’s Seiko Epson Corporation in 2017, Epson shares ink injection know-how. For the new M34 F8 date, nanometer-sized ultrafine fine metal particles are layered multiple times on the dial to achieve this starry effect. The results are great and are good with the meteor display concept. And if you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll see why it reminds you when the spaceship will enter HyperDrive. The Roman digits indicate the 12 o’clock position, and the Orient Star’s signature power reserve indicator is just below, stylized with concentric grooves. This reserve displays 60 hours of main spring power and shows how to keep the clock in the optimal working window. The applied index and baton hand are sharply cut, with deep brushing displayed on the top surface and high polish at the angle.
The 3 o’clock date window is a date window that announces symmetry and interrupts the display of the Perseid meteor shower. However, the date disc matches the color of the dial and has a nice diamond cut frame. While the dial catches your attention, the movement highlights Orient Star’s dedication to in-house watchmaking. As an Orient Star halo model, the watch is listed as a tolerance of +15/-5 seconds per day using a fully in-house F8N64 automatic movement. However, Orient Star is cautiously incorrect incorrectly, and the actual performance is far better than the specs suggest. The silicon escape wheels of this movement are displayed via the sapphire display on the case back, and the watch boasts a water resistance rating of 100m. The Orient Star M34 F8 date is a limited edition of 160 pieces, 2,909.99 euros/US $3,250/£2,699.99.
Orient Star M34 f8 date with green dial
Along the new limited edition, there is a core catalog reference with a green dial that follows last year’s blue and white collection. Like these models and LE, the green dial is found in a 40mm SUS316L stainless steel case with a moderately large thickness of 12.9mm. These dimensions lend the watch to a very adaptable range for large and small wrists. The M34 F8 date is extremely capable, utilizing dual curved sapphire crystal with reflective coatings on each side. Therefore, you can understand the prosperity of dial design in many scenarios. While the green dial is engraved, Orient Star uses a tool with a hand-engraved Perseid Meto Shower-inspired pattern to do this. An even stronger pattern is to provide sparkling depth with optical multilayer films.
Creating a dial at Shimizu Watch Studio in Nagano, Japan guarantees uncompromising quality. Stainless steel bracelet with alternating brushes and polished links holds all this advanced watchmaking on your wrist. Its clasp has three fine-tuned positions and a folding clasp with twin button releases for full security. This bracelet is present throughout the range and enhances a luxurious feel over other Orient Star watches. The new Green Dial Orient Star M34 F8 date arrives for 2,599.99/US$2,900/£2,374.99 for the same price as last year’s blue dial version.

Final Thoughts
Orient Star’s M34 F8 date is the brand’s fastest growing collection. The range features gorgeous white, blue and now green dials, which glow in a rainbow colour in the light. However, the 160-piece Black-Dial Limited Edition realizes the concept of a meteor shower. Find out more about Green-Dial Model on the Orient Star website and a limited edition here.
