Two years ago, IWC introduced a new iteration of Ingenieur as its capsule collection. Ingenieur SL Ref, 1976. Original Gérald Genta design in 1832. The original lineup didn’t have a blue dial version, but it eventually came out. For this year’s watch and wonder, IWC presents many new Ingenieur Watches. Get ready to discover a black ceramic model, a gorgeous take in 5N gold, a complex permanent calendar, a 40mm steel reference with a dark green dial, and two more 35mm variations and one of the gold.
These seven new Ingenieur models bring the total to 12. It’s safe to say that this is no longer a capsule collection. Some may lament the true essence of a new variation of a powerful classical theme, and therefore the appeal. IWC, on the other hand, is a commercial entity that seeks to sell as many watches as possible by meeting the needs of (potential) consumers. With that in mind, launches a complex, permanent calendar that acts as the flagship of the 35mm version, black ceramic iterations, and Ingenieur collection (commercial).
IWC’s new Ingenieur Watches – Starting with black ceramic
Ceramic’s new Ingenieur Automatic 42 (Ref. IW338903) makes perfect sense. IWC has been pioneering scratch-resistant non-alloys since the 1980s, and today’s catalogues offer a wide range of ceramic watches. This ominous, perfect black ingenuity has a 42mm case, and before you say, it should be 40mm just like the steel version, the black is smaller. I tried it before “W and W” and I’m honestly saying it. Although it’s not featherweight, the watch is light enough to make you feel very comfortable on your wrist, and in that respect it is also a 11.6mm thickness that’s helpful. Is it too thick for a high-end sports watch with integrated bracelet? Let me know in the comments, but first, take a closer look at this new, very black Ingenuine.
Almost everything that appears on this watch runs on black zirconium oxide ceramic. Not only the bracelet and bezel, but the crown and its protector are made of ceramic. If you stay on a dark theme, the dial is also black, showing a geometric “grid” structure. This is a feature of Ingenieur. The black hands and metal indexes create the look of the Tontherton, while Super Luminova performs enlightening works in the darkness.
This watch is expected to run on IWC’s Calibre 32111. The 42mm version uses the IWC manufacturing caliber 82110 equipped with the Pellaton Winding System. This movement brings a variety of components of a winding system made from 60 hours of power reserve and virtually no wear. The 4Hz movement shows a black finish with some gold details via a colored display case.

The full frequent ceramic Ingenieur Automatic 42 priced at 21,500 euros.
Most Celebratory Version – Full Gold Ingenieur Automatic 40
The most luxurious and seemingly most honorable in the reborn Ingenieurs is the automatic 40 (ref. IW328702) with a 18K 5N gold case and bracelet. For reference, 5N is a reddish type of gold made from 75% pure gold and 25% copper. The watch is 40mm wide, 10.4mm thick, and 45.7mm from lug to lug. It combines retro shapes with a more contemporary shade of red gold. Yellow gold would have created a more historical meaning, but there is no yellow gold watch in the current IWC collection, which is why 5N gold is the perfect precious metal for the 51,400 euro Ingenieur Automatic 40.
Within the 100m water-resistant case, there is the same automatic 4Hz caliber 32111 with 120 hours of power reserve as the other 40mm models. It is folded under a black dial featuring a 5n gold application index and a convex sapphire crystal with a reflective coating on each side.
Complicate things – Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar 41 of Steel
The first new generation of Ingenieur with complications is here! The Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar 41 (Ref. IW344903/€40,900) features a 41.6 x 13.4mm case and has a remade proportions adapted to accommodate perpetual calendar movements without sacrificing ergonomics. The interior of the 100m water-resistant case beats the automatic caliber 82600, which IWC places within the 42mm Portugiser Perpetual calendar. This movement measures 30mm diameter measurements and features 46 gems, providing a 60-hour power reserve. The Pellaton Winding System offers a permanent calendar “juice” with dates, days, moons, jumping years and permanent moon phase displays. It also has hours, minutes and hacking center seconds.
The new watch is mounted in steel, making it look big and very modern, but still connected to the 35mm yellow gold Inge New Jumbo Per Petal Calendar Moon Phase. IW9240 from the 1990s.
This Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar dial is another notable feature. Its complex grid patterns show small lines and squares, reflecting light. The subdial has a sunray finish that contrasts with the outer boundary that introduces the navy blue urage. Complete the look of the classic calendar by the 6 o’clock moon face display. To ensure that the clock is also used in the dark, the applied index and hour and minute hands received the Super Luminova dose.
Delicate Ingenieur Automatic 35
Don’t call it a women’s watch, but the new Ingenieur Automatic 35 (ref. IW324901 / €11,300) fits nicely on small wrists. That said, in the 1990s, IWC launched Ingenieur, which, as I read before, features a perpetual calendar in the 35mm size. Anyway, the original SL Ingenieurs had a 38 x 12.5mm cushion-shaped case, and in the 1980s the ref was a 34 x 8.8mm “skinny ingenieur” ref. 3505 debuted. The new 35mm x 9.4mm Ingenieur arrived at the Fratello HQ included a silver-plated dial that showed the distinctive Ingenieur pattern. This watch features an integrated stainless steel bracelet (what else?!) equipped with a butterfly folding clasp.
Ingenieur Automatic has a display case that introduces the IWC caliber 47110. This 4Hz automatic movement has a power reserve of 42 hours. For the pleasure of your viewing, IWC adorned the movement with persecution, circular Geneva stripes and gold-plated rotors.
Limited edition Ingenieur Automatic 40 with two other 35mm models and a dark green dial
The new Ingenieur three watches did not arrive at the Fratello HQ, but they debuted with the watch and Wonders 2025. They need a simple mention for perfection, right? First, there is the Suave Ingenieur Automatic 35 in 18K 5N gold (Ref. IW324903 / €41,800). The 35mm lineup also comes in a steel version with a black dial (Ref. IW324906 / €11,300).

For those who want to be like Brad, here’s the opportunity. Brad Pitt’s character, race car driver Sony Hayes, is wearing a vintage, customized version of the Ingenieur SL Ref. 1832 with a dark green dial in the upcoming F1 movie. IWC has created a limited edition of 1,000 40mm Ingenieurs, which pays homage to the film’s watches. The Ingenieur Automatic APX (Ref. IW328908/€14,200) comes in a steel case that houses a green grid pattern dial with rose gold plated indexes. Complete the gorgeous retro look at the set of three rose gold plated hands.
