Collaborations between watch brands and online media titles are nothing new. However, many are expensive premium products. Worn & Wound often focuses on affordable watches and independent brands, working with watch companies to create fun and reliable limited editions. The latest result of these efforts is the new Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 model.
In late September, we covered Astra Stargazer, the final Worn & Wound collaboration with Lorier. This uniquely designed watch sold out quickly, which is normal for Worn & Wound projects. For the third time, Timex WW75 has been chosen as the platform for a new collaboration. The WW75 V3 consists of two limited editions with hand-wound movements.
Timex × Worn scratches WW75 V3
The WW75 V3 follows previous releases with a military-inspired ’70s C case design made from 37mm stainless steel. The retro details continue with the domed acrylic crystal and undated dial. These watches are water resistant to a depth of 50 meters and have a sturdy steel caseback secured with four screws. From a wearability standpoint, this watch is very affordable with a lug-to-lug distance of 43mm and a total thickness of 12.7mm. This release includes two versions, which is great news.
sunflower
The WW75 V3 Sunflower features a yellow diamond pattern dial. The inspiration for this color is the transition from summer to fall. The edges of the dial are dark yellow for contrast. In addition, the polished baton-shaped hour markers are lined with white minute numerals.
Sunflower uses dark green within the brand name, minute track, and cardinal indices. Continuing the autumn theme, this version features orange hour and minute hands that include luminescent material. And summer is creeping up on the light blue second hand. The watch comes with an olive green nylon military strap.
sunset
Next, let’s take a look at the darker WW75 V3 Sunset model. The magenta dial evokes the image of the sun setting over water from autumn to winter. Again, the diamond pattern is used and the date window is omitted.
The two models are similar, but Sunset includes a light blue crosshair and matching minute track. The dial features fully polished applied indexes at 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock. The remaining indexes include two stripes of teal blue paint. Next, the dark blue-green hour and minute hands feature pink luminescent material. This color is also reflected in the logo and the tip of the seconds hand. Finally, the watch comes with a blue and white striped nylon military strap.
hand-wound movement
Timex typically chooses quartz movements with this case style. However, the Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 is equipped with a hand-wound caliber, making it more appealing to enthusiasts. For affordability, the team chose Seagull TY6. This movement has a frequency of 21,600vph and a power reserve of 40 hours.
Price and availability
The Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 Sunset and Sunflower models are available as limited editions of 500 numbered pieces each. The price is set at an affordable $239. Additionally, 900 watches will be available at the Worn & Wound Windup Shop and 100 will be sold through Timex. Once again, Worn & Wound has created a set of attractive, approachable watches that are sure to sell. Which of the two do you prefer?
