With Doxa being a relatively small brand, it’s not every day that you get the words of a new model. But we are here. We can see that the new Sub 750T Clive Cussler is a limited edition, but we hope that the new case is scheduled to be released in serial production. But let’s focus on the release at hand. This piece celebrates several milestones.
The new Doxa Sub 750t Clive Cussler is the latest diver to honor famous fiction authors. It’s a posthumous release, but Castler would have been 94 today. 2025 was also the 20th anniversary of the film Sahara, starring Matthew McConaughey as Kustler’s most renowned character, Dark Pitt. What is a better way to celebrate these two milestones than releasing a new sub? As we see, this watch is for big names who may feel a bit left behind by the trend towards small watches.
Doxa Sub 750t Clive Cussler
The latest sub-750T is a rethink of the watch that debuted 20 years ago. It remains a large, sturdy diver with a diameter of 45mm and length of 47mm, but takes advantage of the recent popularity of thin watches. In fact, this piece has a slim 11.95mm profile containing AR-coated sapphire crystal. This is almost a 2mm reduction compared to its predecessor, which is a big deal for the shirt sleeve set.
The watch has a slim and trim appearance, but it is not lightweight in the diving category. True to its name, the 750T has a rating of 750m depth. Naturally, we use a under-screw crown to protect movement. Luckily there are no helium valves. Finally, the unidirectional non-suppressing bezel is proud of this case and displays the mark at your feet.
The familiar dial color using Numa patches
Like Pitt’s clock in books and movies, the Sub 750T Clive Cussler proudly flaunts his professional orange dial. The familiar printed Super Lumino Vindex is marked every hour except at 3am. This space has a date window. There are fun party tricks with mostly black numbers, but the orange 7, 15, and 31 means Kastler’s date of birth. Of course, there is a typical bright black handset with a laughing, cool, small hour hand. Apart from the Black Minute tracks and words, the watch has a large patch logo on the bottom left.
Cussler has established the National Water and Marine Agency (NUMA) as a non-profit marine conservation organization. It was also the organization that Pitt belonged to the novel. Normally, nods to fiction will be kitschy, but in this case there is a credibility associated with numa, as it exists. Plus, for many Doxa fans, there is an obvious link between the watch brand and the story.
The sturdy serrata SW300 is under a special case
Doxa usually doesn’t confuse the display caseback, and the Sub 750T Clive Cussler is no exception. Here, the watch has a stainless steel screw-in case decorated with compass rose. The motifs are present throughout the book, so it goes well. A pleasant surprise is the use of the Sellita SW300. We’re used to the SW200-1, but the 300 boasts an extra power reserve. This watch is more competitive due to the main spring’s 28,800VPH and the frequency of “fuel” for 56 hours.
How do I wear the Sub 750T Clive Cussler?
The 750T headed to the headquarters for a photo shoot, but I had the opportunity to try out the prototype at Watches and Wonders 2025 in a closed door session. As expected, the 45mm watch is a little bigger on my small wrist. However, a 47mm lug-to-lug will make it withstand. For those with medium wrists, this watch should be worn as well as 200T or 300T on my top.
Next is the thickness. We are used to large, heavy diving watches of such diameters, so it’s totally refreshing to wear a huge tool watch that is very thin. The 11.95mm thickness is great for large, water-resistant divers and is instantly noticeable. I think this watch and future buyers are releasing this case size (we can hope for it!)
As for Accouterments, the watch comes standard with the brand’s steel beads of slice bracelet and includes diver extensions. Also included are orange and black nylon straps for those who enjoy a sportier look. And for those who enjoy shopping and stacking for aftermarket options, it’s good to pay attention to the 21mm lug spacing.
Severely restricted and priced in line with other models
The Sub 750T Clive Cussler is limited to just 94 numbered watches and is available today on the brand’s official website. The price is listed at 2,890 euros and the watch arrives in a special book-like package. Additionally, Doxa is donating a portion of its sales to Numa. Overall, I think this limited edition will sell out soon. It is attractive and refers to an important part of the brand’s history. More importantly, we hope to present an incredible collection of large divers.
