IFL Watches uses Bulova Super Seville as a canvas for some of the latest dialing creations. I love Bulova’s retro Super Seville, so I welcome creative take developed by the IFL team. For this latest limited edition release, the artists at IFLW came up with a special hand-drawn honeycomb dial. The dial is a homage to “Nature’s Ultimate Precision Worker,” a Honeybee, and comes with a hand of seconds inspired by a Custom Bee. The result is a fun take on Bulova’s Super Seville, available with a limited number of 500 rides. Check what the watch is.
You may wonder why the IFLW team created this special honeycomb dial. Is it a homage to the vintage Rolex honeycomb dial? It might have been an option, but the answer is much easier. The IFLW team found the inspiration to connect nature’s most hardworking workers to the Bulova precision caliber that drives the watch. As the brand explains, bees have perfected the art of high frequency accuracy. The bee wings move up and down at an astonishing frequency of 200-300 times per second. Giving Bee’s purpose is the topic of high frequency. Create flights, build communities, and convert nectar into honey.
The honeycomb story of Bulova Super Seville connects the movement to the bees
If you study the life and movement of bees, you know that it is all based on working hard and building a home with incredible accuracy. The hexagonal beehive cells created by honeybees are the perfect symptom of precision engineering. Bees create them, making them strong, reliable, and maximize efficiency. The same philosophy can be applied to Bulova’s precisionist movement. The aperture operates at 262,144 vibrations per second. This is eight times the normal quartz movement. As a result of this high beat frequency, seconds sweep the dial gracefully. Plus, the Super Seville reliable powertrain never pauses and is dedicated with great precision.
This fun connection led to a completely different dial from the colorful pieces you normally see from IFLW. This new 500-piece limited edition canvas is a silver dial version of Super Seville. There is a 37.5mm TV style case with a 10.5mm thickness and a 42.3mm lug-to-lug. The topping on the case is a grooved bezel that gives the watch a retro character. I love the charming looks of Super Seville. They have proven to be the perfect canvas for creative dials. My favorite is the turquoise version of the Stone Dial Collection, which Bulova created with Complecto at the end of last year.
Hand-drawn dial
However, IFLW also showed great creativity in the Super Seville mural that the brand unveiled in April of this year. That 300-piece limited edition dial was a homage to New York Street art. In that version, the IFLW team decided to hold fine tracks and applied markers on the dial. It created a clear and retro atmosphere perfectly suited to the artwork on the dial. However, for this new honeycomul, the brand has decided to take a different route.
As you can see, the new honeycomb dial loses time markers, Bulova logos, dates and fine tracks to create a suitable blank canvas. First, IFLW artists hand-drawn honeycomb textures across the dial. After that, golden honey drops are scattered, reminding us of our dedication to making the sweet honey we love. As you can see, bees are the clocks with custom seconds hand. Its counterweight features flying bees that travel across the dial during the day. The result of this is a fun dial that tells a whimsical visual story.
As mentioned before, this story is tied to the Bulova NM10 Precisionist Calibre, which runs the clock. This quartz movement operates at a frequency of 262kHz and is accurate within seconds of a year. Furthermore, the aperture can withstand extreme temperature changes, and as already mentioned, seconds slide smoothly on the dial. It ensures that bees move in fluid motion, like in nature. Finishing the watch’s monochromatic look is an integrated bracelet that tapes well from the lug to the clasp. Not only is it fun to watch, it’s also a joy to wear.
Final Thoughts on the New Bulova Super Seville Honeycomb Limited Edition
Overall, I like this new Honeycomb Limited Edition from IFLW. This is a refreshing change from the regular art you see on the IFLW limited edition dial. It’s not that bold, it’s on your face and I think it will attract many people who may not be fans of the usual street art style that the brand is known for. However, this does not mean that this new Super Seville honeycomul is not noticeable.
Another detail I like is that every dial is unique. Everything on the 500 dial is hand painted, so each one looks different. In addition to that, this pattern gives artists the opportunity to change the placement of their honey drops. This means that each owner wears a unique personal watch. If you’re interested in getting it for 1,190 euros, head over to the official IFL Watches website. The watch will launch today at Sesto on July 7th at 4pm, and with the popularity of the limited edition of IFLW, you may want to be quick. This new IFLW Bulova Super Seville Honeycomb Limited Edition sells out quickly.
