While many of us love to read about the latest autohorology pieces, it’s nice to know that notable brands produce affordable mechanical watches packed with added value. Hanhart has emerged as a leader in this market segment. Whether or not a historic company focuses on movement accuracy or the durability of case materials, it’s great to see anything other than the typical approach to watchmaking. The latest Prevestor HD12 Silk Purple shows these properties and does so in style.
I was pleased to cover some recent Hanhart releases, but most of the time I was amazed at the enormous amount of value packed into each watch. I’m not necessarily knocking on other brands, but it’s easy to create a stainless steel case, dial design and add an automatic movement. So it’s the small additions that make the difference. As you can see from the Preventor HD12 Silk Purple, there are many things I love here. It’s nice to know that even if this is a limited edition, variations in theme color are always available.
Hanhart Preventor HD12 Silk Purple
Simply put, the latest Hanhart is a collaboration with German watch magazine Armbanduhren. For those who are not fluent in Teutonic language, it simply means “watch.” To support the collaboration, the publication works with Hanhart, both in Germany, making it a suitable partnership. Basically, watches are color variants, but they are colors that we enjoy mainstream success.
Preventor HD12 Silk Purple is a 39mm x 46mm watch made from the brand’s trademark HD12 steel. Essentially, this is a hardened stainless steel that undergoes heat treatment and reaches a hardness of 1,200 hV (Vickers). In fact, it’s five times the typical 316L grade used in watches. Another point of reference that makes sense is that it is as stiff as the convex sapphire crystal of a watch. However, Hanhart is not satisfied with the hardness and has added a clear PVD coating to the case on the appropriate scale.
Portable bracelet
Unlike other Hanhart watches, the purple color of the preventive HD12 silk is available only in oyster-like stainless steel bracelets with wetsuit extensions and push button folding clasp. To ensure proper surface durability with the case, the bracelet also receives a clear PVD coating.
Unmistakable purple dial
For collaboration, the Preventor HD12 Silk Purple features a matte purple dial with printed Arabic numerals. These are coated with Super Luminova C1 replicated in cathedral hours, minutes and clear second hand. Yes, I think there is more than passing the long-term oris pointer date, but Hanhart has no date complications and especially a different numeric font. Other visual merchandise is the use of White on the brand’s classic logo, model name and outer minute track. If grape is your taste, this is a seriously easy to read, purpose-built look watch.
The case with a refined brush oozes classic proportions
Due to its dimensions, the purple color of the preventive HD12 silk should fit in the sweet spot of most wearers. The mixing of polished brush and brushed surfaces is combined with a large, signed, twisty crown and diagonal bezel. Whether you call it a field watch or a freeger, it just looks attractive and comfortable. It also boasts enthusiastic specifications such as a screw-down crown, a screw-in caseback and a depth rating of 15 ATMs per DIN 8310.

Preventor HD12 Silk Purple is Pünktlich
Interestingly, Hanhart reserves the right to adopt the Sellita SW200 or Soprod P024 automatic movement. These popular calibers have daily qualifications, including a frequency of 28,800 VPH and a 38-hour power reserve. However, regardless of the caliber, each is subjected to so-called Hanhart regulation, guaranteeing a deviation of 0-8 seconds per day at all positions.
Provides great value
Readers often skip to the end of the article and find the price of the watch before reading. If so, we hope that the response was positive as the Treventor HD12 Silk Purple has a list price of 1,295 euros, including 19% VAT. It seems to be suitable for everyday watches that are attractive, simple yet robust. As mentioned earlier, this is a limited edition, and Hanhart created a work numbered 200. Germany has luck on its side as the market receives 150. So, if this particular purple attacks your fantasies, head to the official Hanheart site and order.
