Hands -on: New Nibada Glenchen Antarctic Diver Green

More than a year and a half have passed since NIVADA GRENCHEN introduced Antarctica divers in May 2023. Since then, Swiss brands have released many watches, including chronographs and integrated bracelets. However, this is the first time that a new model has been added to the Antarctic Diver Collection. Today, Nivada Antarctica Diver Green is on sale in two versions.

The market has 150, 75 and date functions, and only 75 can be used. Except for the opening at 6 o’clock, the two models are the same. Let’s check the details.

Antarctic diver green

The Antarctic diver came to the market on May 25 in 2023. As of now, two versions were available. The Antarctic Line is one of the most versatile ones in the NIVADA catalog. The model contains GMT, Super Mimako, Super Mill Pole 3-6-9, Antarctic Diver, and in this case. The new model, Antarctica Diver Green, is inspired by the original diver and green dial vintage model. Nibada’s Antarctic diver green inspiration is derived from the Antarctic Ocean model via a barrel in the 1971 catalog. Unlike the standard Antarctica diver, today’s new version does not have a red cross of the dial. The new Antarctic diver green has a different Nibada logo in 12, but at 6 o’clock has the same handwritten style “Antarctic diver” textbook. The index of the small scale is also long, and you can find a bright index line on which 10 flat radial. The room index is missing at 3:00 and 9:00. If you select the date version, the opening is 3. Vintage atmosphere

The size also gives a vintage atmosphere, except for the vintage dialed design and large and wide hands. Nibada Antarctica Diver Green is 38mm in width and 45mm from rug tip to rug chip. Due to the double dome sapphire crystal, the total watch is about 12.9mm. In the index and hands, there is a cream fake patty room that looks a bit yellow in a specific light. As with the normal Nibada Antarctica diver, the Antarctic diver lives in a Swiss P024 movement in Soprod. It is necessary to know about this caliber that has a 38 -hour, 25 gemstone power reserve. If you select a version without a date, the movement has no “phantom date” position. Both versions have a hacking mechanism and can be set to the second version. You may have expected a more authoritative movement, but using a soprod can help the brand to keep the price low. Because it is very low, the retail price is $ 1000, the Euro, or Swiss franc. If you want to buy Antarctica Diver Green in the United States, the cost is $ 995. On the other hand, it is 956 euros or Switzerland CHF 890 for EU customers.

If you want to buy a watch with a bracelet, you need to mention that the price is slightly higher. NIVADA offers tropical rubber straps, leather straps, racing style leather straps, bead oblis or flat link steel bracelets, regardless of stitching. My review watch came with a tropic style rubber strap. This is an additional addition to the age of vintage design.

Wrist

I wore a better watch than half a week and was very happy with it. Thanks to that size, the Antarctic diver green was very comfortable. Also, thanks to the big hand, it was very easy to read. The cream color of the room and steel hand is sufficiently contrasted to the green dial. I have a fairly large 19cm (7.5 -inch) wrist, but the rubber strap was long enough. You may have felt it was too long. It’s not long enough to bother me, but it’s certainly enough for someone with a big wrist.

As a whole, I was satisfied with the watch, especially in consideration of the price. Did you miss the date function? No, I didn’t do it, but this is my personal preference. If you want to create a date, the brand provides the option. Remember that NIVADA GRENCHEN is produced only for the 75th and 75 days of the Antarctic Diver Green.
