Certainly, I didn’t have a Girard Perlager retro diver on my 2025 prediction list. But just a month ago I visited our site. The Deep Diver Legacy Edition proves that the Swiss brand is still funky. Today we will be looking at this limited edition piece, crowned by the twins, and share our thoughts.
Girard-Perregaux is one of the brands that always stick to me. My dad bought a lovely 70s high frequency model during his parents’ honeymoon. In fact, his watch and today’s deep divers have more than kissing his cousin’s shared DNA. Either way, I like the company’s current offerings, but I’m always looking for something different to provide an additional spark in the lineup. Let’s see if this throwback hits the mark.
Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver Legacy Edition
Before moving on to the impressions, run the specs quickly. The watch comes with a 38mm x 40.3mm grade 5 titanium case with a mix of sharp edges, brushes and polished surfaces. As for sizes, the 1969 original is very trendy.
The watch is very squat, but is 13.91mm thick. Of course, we use sapphire crystal. We offer a 200m depth rating for anyone considering using this as a suitable diving watch. Suitable for this diver, this diver comes with a blue natural rubber strap and titanium tan buckle. The Girard-Perregaux also includes an orange strap with an additional titanium buckle.
The automatic GP03300 works internally
Deep Diver has a neat party trick with a blue sapphire lens coming back to the chunky titanium screw-in case. At an angle, it reminds me of the original version with the model name and trident. Still, it still allows you to see a slight look at the automatic GP03300 caliber below. The movement beating at 28,800Vph and has a 46-hour power reserve. It’s hard to see, but the company’s GP03300 also has an angage, polished and snails, resident of Gineve.

Bright and funky dial
The deep diver dial is definitely the calling card for this watch. It’s bright and quite unique among the available crowds of orange divers. The angular roulette wheel-like inner rotating bezel creates an impressive look with a strong retro feel. The white track inside contains countless details, including a navy blue trapezoid, a printed bright orange time marker, and a blue segment. The 3 o’clock traditional date window has a white blue date wheel and an oblique orange frame. The final detail is an extension of the middle part of the orange. Aside from the name of Girard Pergo in the obvious throwback font, there are also shadow reminders of Bamford’s contributions on display.
Deep Diver includes interesting mobile phones. The brush shape is correct as original, but it contains an orange Super Luminova. In the first article, I received some questions about whether my hands look good against the orange dial. They are, but there certainly is a slight sacrifice to the readability of fashion gods. The brushed metal helps you draw long hands in the qualifying moments as eye-catching details. Of course, considering this is a diving watch, that’s a good thing.
In the darkness, the deep divers do a light show. All the wild colours give way to a soft greenish blue glow from the applied Super Luminova. Of note, the bold double line of the bezel room to indicate the start time of the dive. Its design ensures that it is not confused with time indexes.
On the wrist
Deep Diver is an interesting watch. Its dimensions sound small, but they are very worn. The nugget-like design and twin crown add mass, but the lack of an outer bezel contributes most to this watch’s larger look. That said, anyone with a small wrist can wear it. The watch that comes to mind with a slightly similar case design is the Aquastar Benthos H2.
The difference and improvement here is the lightweight titanium construction. Suitable for viewing this style. It helps to balance the overall between your wrists. Similarly, flexible elastic straps can feel as if nothing is.
Elephant in the room
Girard-Perregaux produces just 350 of the Deep Diver Legacy Edition, priced at 16,000 EUR / £12,900 / US $15,100. This makes it extremely expensive and puts it in the league along with some big hitters within the dive watch genre. If the price is close to 10,000 euros, I think most people will be happy to accept the watch. Additionally, the 2 o’clock bezel setting crown and the 4th under-screw time setting crown include cross-hatching engravings. Those who know vintage watches will instantly recognize these as signatures in the EPSA Super Compressor Case. So, what is the problem? Deep divers are not super compressors.
Final Thoughts on Deep Divers
Overall, Deep Diver is a very cool looking watch with a distinctive dial design courtesy of Bamford. Furthermore, the titanium case is beautifully finished with its strong angle and surface mix. Perhaps the best way to see it is as a limited production niche product. Based on that, I can imagine it proves success and finds favors to 350 collectors. Let’s hope that Girard-Perregaux will expand its lineup with additional titanium and steel references.
