The Casio G-Shock has long been proud of its aesthetics and durability. For a period of time in the 2000s, G-Shocks was a fashion statement of choice, especially for celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams. They were pure “ugly-chic.” Colorful, large, maximalist, yet affordable, anyone could shake up the G-shock. Another ugly chic fashion phenomenon that took off in the 2000s was the crocodile. On a beloved and equivalent scale, the bubble clogs in these latent layers were inevitable in the 00s.
That’s why it makes sense to hear that G-Shock and Crocs are working together on a clog where you can install the watch.

This Crocs X G-Shock collaboration comes as a bundle of pairs of dark Crocs echo waves. This is a more street equipment inspired take from the Crocs Formula, which resembles a pair of traditional sneakers, combined with the traditional Ga-2100 ‘casioak’ g-shock design. Like the echo waves included in this package, this cassioak dial glows in the dark, featuring the Crocs logo at 12 o’clock, and has a marble pattern on the strap that matches the shoe lining and strap. Otherwise, it is functionally identical to your average cassioak.
This Cassioak model has a quick release strap, and the Crocs has a special modular watch case that connects to the rivet system on the side of the shoe. The idea is that you can remove the strap and slide the watch head over this case. Casio explains this as “redefines how and where to wear a watch.”
Is this particularly practical? no. Is it fashionable? Now, beauty is in the eyes of the viewer… I say that any watch is the perfect G-Shock to attach to your feet. If you roll your ankle or kick a soccer or something, you don’t have to worry about destroying the watch.
Look, let’s be real here. It’s part of the appeal of clocks, and to some extent, many G-Shocks are not subtle. They are intentionally a bit ridiculous. It’s a bit of a style statement, so this is totally a brand for both brands. Casio created collaborations with influencers and fashion labels, from Bape and Nike’s Jordan brands to Murakami statues and Eminem, making G-Shock a part of the streetwear culture. Crocs is the natural (and extremely comfortable) next step.
