This week’s Fratello Talk features the Patek Philippe Cubitus. Nacho, Rex, and Dern join forces to discuss this hotly debated release from one of the world’s most prestigious watch brands. Initially, the watch was leaked through a magazine ad, but it was not well received by watch enthusiasts. And even though journalists at the launch event were positive about Patek’s first new collection in 25 years, the online rhetoric remained quite cynical. Today I’m going to talk about this topic and give you my honest opinion on what has become one of the most polarizing new releases of the year. But before we get into that, let’s check your wrist.

With square watches in mind, we can’t blame Dern for his recent purchase, a vintage Art Deco Infra (made by Louvrette) with a stunning hand-carved .800 silver case. The watch is equipped with blue leaf hands and a square small seconds register, reflecting the overall shape of the watch. It has vintage charm and is definitely a conversation starter.
Rex also dips into the non-round watch theme, but he has something a little newer on his wrist. It’s a stainless steel Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds. Paired well with the textile and leather Casa Fagliano strap, this is a sportier take on JLC’s classic polo timepieces.
Nacho is wearing a vintage Chronograph Swiss. Featuring a 37mm 18K pink gold case, this model is a handsome number with incredibly wearable proportions. This particular model is equipped with the Landeron 48 movement. You can read all about this watch and the brand behind it here.
