Fratello speaks: Reunion with brand founder Benoît Mintien

In this uncut, full-length discussion, learn about Benoit’s industrial design background and how it nourished his eye for designing functional objects including medical devices, trains and buses, and even hunting shotguns. Masu. After spending the better part of two decades in this field, he decided to take on the challenge of designing watches. In doing so, he emphasized a blank slate approach and a 21st century perspective. He threw away the burden of hundreds of years of watchmaking and started making watches from scratch. The brand name, which reflects this spirit, is a combination of “Renaissance” and “Essential.”
