Welcome to a new year and a new season of Fratello Talks, the world’s favorite podcast. What should we expect from the world of watches in 2025? Nacho, RJ and Rex share their predictions on today’s show. Some of this is wishful thinking, while others are educated guesses based on anniversaries, notable dates, and internal secrets sworn not to break blood oaths. Well, probably none of its secrets will be revealed. But it’s still worth paying attention to, as some of these predictions could end up coming true (or be comically wrong). Knowing that there are several anniversaries that may be celebrated with the corresponding release will ensure that you know what to expect. But before we get into it, let’s take a look at what’s on the players’ wrists this week.
list check
Rex made a familiar start to the new year by festively strapping the band around his wrist alongside his trusty Timor. Although there is a lot of leather used, the watch’s small size still allows it to wear well. This bright dial field watch has become Rex’s go-to, reflecting the sunny days of summer and illuminating the dark days of this time of year. You can’t go wrong with this timeless design.
The retro vibe continues on RJ’s wrist, which is fitted with an updated version of the steel Breguet Type XX. He spent a few weeks with the watch in December gathering his thoughts. You can read a comprehensive hands-on review of his watches here. He wasn’t always keen on it, but eventually it managed to captivate him.
Nacho started off 2025 on the right foot rocking a Speedmaster (3570.50.00) with a black NATO strap. He was inspired by the look of a particular space-flying Speedy that went up for sale in late November. Although his Speedmaster has never been to space, it was briefly worn by Jean-François Clervoy, an ESA astronaut and veteran of three NASA Space Shuttle missions. . It doesn’t quite claim the same fame, but it’s still not a bad story to share.
