Welcome to another episode of Fratello On Air. This week, we answer listener questions about pairing watches and straps with clothes. Do we care or think twice about what kind of watch we wear with our outfits?Stay there to find out more. Your content viewing will begin in approximately 20 minutes.
Halloween is approaching. That means the show opens with another great joke, just to hear Balazs groan. Somehow I got stuck on apparel brands, including J.Crew, so let’s cut to the chase. Our loyal listener Saku from Finland is back again and asks if we intentionally pair watches and straps with our clothes. It’s a seemingly simple question, but it leads to endless conversations.
hand gear control
When we finally moved on to hand gear control, Balazs admitted he had ignored the Rolex GMT-Master 1675. He wore it on a period correct original Oyster bracelet. Mike wears a first generation Heuer Carrera 2447 with a seriously over-polished case that he bought 10 years ago. He just found an old case online and plans to complete the replacement in the next few weeks.
watches and clothing
It’s safe to say that we both live by loose rules when it comes to watches and clothing. However, there are rules. We both prefer straps unless we’re wearing a Rolex. And if your outfit is very casual, avoid strict dress watches, and always avoid black or brown alligator or crocodile straps. We both enjoy pairing bold straps with toned-down watches and contrasting looks with our clothes. However, never pair a black strap with a brown belt or vice versa. Is that a pedantic argument? That’s true, but that’s why you’re listening! Let us know your favorite watch, strap, and clothing combination below.
