Welcome to the latest episode of Fratello on Air! This week we imagine a particular current brand as an independent watch maker. This topic was a lot of fun to discuss and came as a suggestion from two listeners. Enjoy the show!
Most of today’s watch brands belong to a large group. Without a doubt, this helped many survive the quartz crisis of the 70s. But what happens when some brands become independent? In today’s episode, several companies imagine themselves and what it looks like.
Handgelenkskontrolle
We’ll start the show with a DIY story. The Balazs then mentioned a recent auction for Kobe Bryant’s debut jersey. It was sold for 7 million US$! In the case of Handgelenkskontrolle, the microphone wears a watch that can survive all yard work. It is the “Raymears” that is a pro-master tough citizen. Balaz meets mutual friends from Swatch Group Germany and sports his Omega Speedmaster Pro Speedy Tuesday “Ultraman.”
The current brand is independent
For our main topic, we respond to requests from two listeners who asked if some brands could benefit independently. We will work on the subject and do our best to mention the five Marches. Cartier is a huge brand and can probably survive on its own, but I don’t know if there’s any benefit to being alone. Longines is a brand that created world-class movements long ago and is hoping to see some of the classic chronograph movements again. Omega, like Cartier, could survive as an independent, and we play the possible scenarios. Finally, Vacheron Constantin and Panerai create a list as possible spinoffs.
We hope you enjoy the show. Thank you to the listeners. If you have any ideas for future episodes, let us know!
