That all sounds very impressive, but what does a titanium core nanoshell case mean? According to Chronoswiss, this is “a precedent for grade 5 titanium and high-tech composites permanently fused at the molecular level.” It is said that it is “coexistence without mutual respect.” Red high-tech material makes up this 42.6 x 14.5 mm watch case, which Chronoswiss combines with an equally fiery dial with many delicate details. Yes, the Chronoswiss Delphis Firestarter is a notable release.
I can’t say Delphis Firestarter is amazing. After all, Chronoswiss, a brand from Lucerne, already gave us the 44mm Open Gear Lysec Electric Blue. However, no matter how blue the watch is, red will have a greater impact. Indeed, the new red creation may be smaller than the bluer-blue Open Gear ReSec. However, the red color has a strong presence.
Popular Chronoswiss Delphis Firestarter
The Chronoswiss Delphis case shape debuted under the brand’s founder, Gerd R. Lang. But he must have never imagined that it would be a red metal. Well, the current owners, the Ebstein family, did. The Delphis Firestarter is a limited edition of 50 pieces and is the world’s first product to feature a titanium core nano shell case. The color is not a coating, but an integral part of the material. This is the result of an advanced bonding process in which a titanium core is permanently bonded to a 0.4mm ultra-light yet resilient composite shell. The color of that composite is, you guessed it, red. Interestingly, the case is carved from a solid block of colored composite material.
Are there any benefits to using this material? Well, when you scratch it, the scratch is red and no matter how deep the scratch is, it’s not a contrasting metallic color that’s unpleasant and hard to ignore. Another advantage is that red watches attract attention from a distance.

The red case is very modern in every sense of the word. The color of the dial is the same, but the manufacturing method is different. The dial of the watch has an 18K white gold base decorated with hand guilloche and five layers of brightly colored grand feu enamel. By the way, Chronoswiss creates these dials in the brand’s atelier in Lucerne. This is worth mentioning, as the striking half-moon-shaped upper dial is not only difficult to manufacture, but equally delicate and dramatic. The rotating red and white warning sign at 6 o’clock is integrated into the black decoration and more than just goes unnoticed. It also brings humor and lightness to the watch.
Like the other eight Delphis references in the current Chronoswiss collection, the Firestarter displays a jumping hour at 12 o’clock, with a retrograde minute hand to help you reach your train on time. The Delphis is easily recognized by the large openwork hands that run across the top half of the dial. Caliber C.6004 with a 55-hour power reserve jumps the hours, sweeps the minutes and rotates the running indicator.
The Chronoswiss Delphis Firestarter costs 41,800 euros. What do you think of this fiery red production? And did you expect me to mention Prodigy’s smash hit “Firestarter” sooner?
