Last week, on the last episode of Fratello Talks of the year, RJ, Rex, and Nacho shared their favorite watches of 2024, divided into six predetermined categories. The episode’s companion article, Dear Fratelli, included a poll where you could vote for your favorite watch out of 18 nominations. After a week of voting, it’s time to announce which watch will win the honor of being chosen by Fratello readers as the Best Watch of 2024!
The winning watch in the contest received a whopping 26% of the votes. This is really impressive since 2nd place got 11% and 3rd place got 9%. So without further ado, here are my top 3 favorite watches of 2024. In third place is the Omega Speedmaster Pilot Flight Qualified. In second place is the impressive IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar. But Fratello readers chose the best watch of 2024 as the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with a white dial.
Best watches of 2024 according to Fratello readers: Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with white dial
Of course, your choices were limited by the options given to you by RJ, Rex, and Nacho. But I somehow feel like the white dial Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional would have won anyway. It’s interesting how just changing the color of the dial can change the look of a watch so much. I was even more surprised to see how well it was received.
Omega’s designers did a great job of inverting the dial colors of the Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional. What’s more, the red “Speedmaster” text adds a bit of sportiness, making the otherwise bland dial feel like a chef’s kiss. All of this results in a Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional that looks different, but at the same time feels very familiar. Perhaps that’s the main reason Fratello received so many votes from the Speedmaster-loving community.
I’m happy to see the impressive IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar take second place. This means there are still many people who appreciate the innovation and complications of today’s mechanical watches.
The 3rd place Omega Speedmaster Pilot Flight Qualified shows that many of us wanted to become pilots. The great thing about this watch is that you can imagine yourself in it every time you look at your wrist.
Winners in other categories
Let’s also take a look at the winners in each category. Of course, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional with its white dial also dominated the Sports & Tools category. The IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar did well in the complexity category, but the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honey Gold ‘Lumen’ wasn’t far behind with 8% of the votes.
In the dress category, Danielle Ross won with her beautiful tourbillon in rose gold.
In the newcomer category, there was a tie between the beautiful Berneron Mirage 34 Tiger Eye and the exquisite Echo/Neutra Rivanera.
The Piaget Polo 79 won the award for Best Iconic/Classic Watch.
Finally, the Parmigiani Toric collection, especially the Petit Seconds model, was the most surprising release of the year.
What are your favorite watches of 2024?
Of course, many of the 2024 releases were left out of this competition. If your favorite watch released this year wasn’t among the 18 choices, leave a comment below and let us know what it was. And if you already have a prediction as to which watch will win in 2025, we’d love to hear from you!
