[F]Armin Strom introduces Tribute 1 Sandstein

Armin Strom launched Tribute 1 in 2021 as part of its more accessible System 78 collection. They were different as the world was still experiencing a global pandemic. According to Armin Strom co-founder Serge Michel, The Tribute 1 represents hope that the pandemic will soon end. Well, it did, and in the meantime many new references were added to the Tribute 1 collection. The Armin Strom’s modern dress watch version featured a skeletonized barrel, contrasting colors, and even a Fumé dial. New Tribute 1 Sandstein brings the brand back to its collection’s roots with a more gentle design.

The first Armin Strom Tribute 1 had a monochrome dark grey dial that stood out beautifully with the white gold barrel. The new Sandstein Edition seems to date back to these elegant design principles. But that doesn’t mean that seeing isn’t a joy. Let’s take a look right away.

Armin Strom Tribute 1

The new Armin Strom Tribute 1 Sandstein features the same modest and familiar 38mm stainless steel case. Its modern finish includes both a brush and a polished surface. The lug is 44.35mm from tip to top, while the watch is only 9.38mm from sapphire to sapphire. These are the perfect dimensions for modern dress watches.

If you use the crown at 2am, you can set it by wrapping the AMW21 with a manual winding caliber. Its signature feature is an exposed white gold barrel held in place by a mirror polished bridge on the dial-side. The company’s movement operates at a frequency of 25,200 VPH, features 21 gems and holds an impressive 100-hour power reserve. You can enjoy the reach-out bridge, Geneva striping and blacked screws through the sapphire display on the case back. Construction is water resistant to 50 meters.

Sandstein Edition

The unique feature of the Armin Strom Tribute 1 Sandstein is its dial colour inspired by the warm tone and rough texture of the sandstone. This is a commonly used material in Bergdorf, the hometown of Armin Strom in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland.

The best example of the use of this material in town’s architecture is the impressive Bergdorf Castle.

New Tribute 1 incorporates sandstone colors both in the center dial and the free matte space around it. Additionally, the main dial features a barley guiloch finish in the center, and the chapter ring also features elegant Roman numbers. Like the other tribute 1 models, the Sandstein version has a skeletonized handset and six exposed screws on the dial side. The Barrel Bridge’s famous gem provides a lovely colour accent in a gentle sandstone background.

Limited to 50

I love the clean and peaceful look of Armin Strom Tribute 1 Sandstein. The Roman numerals and barley dial pattern is a classic detail that very well complements the watch’s modern aesthetic, with the sandy Alcantara straps also feature off-white stitching. The new Tribute 1 Sandstein is limited to 50, making it 22,000 times more.
