If one model from the Zenith Collection shows the diversity of creative exploration for a brand, it is the Chronomaster Sport. The popular chronograph, introduced in 2021, quickly became one of the brand’s huge successes. Additionally, the design team uses Chronomaster Sport as a thank you canvas for exploring a variety of creative ideas. In the brand’s 160th anniversary, we were already treated to bright blue ceramic models between watches and wonders. Zenith’s creative team presents a beautiful meteorite dial in a stainless steel version of the beautiful Met Stone Sports for its latest Chronomaster Sports. I had the opportunity to wear my watch for a few days and learn more.
A great way to showcase the creativity of the Zenith Design Team is to highlight some of my personal Chronomaster Sport favorites. My top pick is the Chronomaster Sport Titanium, which was released last year. Other impressive models include the rose gold version with a black dial, a special Tri-Color Boutique Edition, a steel bezel version with a pink dial for Susan G. Comen Breast Cancer Foundation, and a unique jewel set of 18K rose gold version with a stone-stone age dial. The last version is directly related to the watch in this review, as both have met stone dials. However, the 18k rose gold version is extremely luxurious, while the new stainless steel model offers an impressive example of the possibility that the Meteorite dial could be refined without over-the-top.
Details of the New Fence Chronomaster Sports Meteorite
That’s a rather simple conclusion to what is essentially a simple dial variant of the Chronomaster Sport. But sometimes it’s not that easy to make an impact. Let’s take a look at some details from the beginning.
The New Zenith Chronomaster Sport comes with a 47mm lug to lug span of 13.6mm thick and 40mm stainless steel case with a depth of 100m. The case matches a fixed black ceramic bezel that holds 1/10th of the second scale. The engraved marker filled with white contrasts well with the bezel, with 1/10 of the second text hinting at a special chronograph movement that moves the clock.
But the big story of this release is the amazing Met stone dial. The special dial comes with three subdials, turning white to light gray. These colors perfectly match the tone of the dial, creating a wonderful, monochromatic presence. The top of the applied and facet markers is filled with black lacquer. The short inner side also features a white Super Luminova, allowing you to read time in the dark.
Overall monochromatic presence with lots of great details
The same color scheme continues with the hands, and is filled with black lacquer and white Super Luminova. Like all El Primero-equipped watches, the date window is neatly hidden between the 4 and 5 o’clock markers. Small hints of color are provided in the shape of the red tip of the chronograph hand in the center. The small hands that make rounds at the chronograph counter at 3am and 6am also feature red details. Finally, Zenith Star and black printed text applied to the top half finish the dial-in style.
This watch features a familiar three-link Oyster style bracelet with a folded clasp and a safety lock. As you know from other Chronomaster Sport models, the bracelet has a sophisticated central link and an outer link with a brush.
Overall, the monochromatic presence of the watch with a small hint of red reminds me of the Chronomaster Sport Titanium. Once you put them together, they make the perfect set of two Chronomaster sports that have been performed differently but still retain their unmistakable charm. The big difference is clearly the dial. This new met stone dial is beautifully detailed and will instantly catch your attention.
Zenith El Primero 3600 Caliber
Looking back at the clock, you will be greeted by a Zenith El Primero 3600 caliber. This high-beat automatic movement operates at 36,000Vph (5Hz) frequencies and provides a 60-hour power reserve.
The most impressive feature of this in-house chronograph caliber is seeing the central chronograph hand travelling through the full cycle in 10 seconds. This allows you to calculate the elapsed time in 1/10 seconds with the black ceramic bezel. This extraordinary feature mainly serves as a semi-party trick, but the technical achievements that make this possible are impressive.
Wearing Zenith Chronomaster Sports Meteorite
If you’ve ever loved wearing the Zenith Chronomaster Sport, this is the same. The sports chronograph sits comfortably on my wrist, making it easy to wear. The size and proportions match my 18.5cm wrist without any problems, making every practical experience enjoyable.
What sets this version of the watch stands out for me is the combination of the overall monochromatic presence and an incredible level of detail once you start zooming in. This continuous play between this perspective and intricate detail makes this metstone model a great addition to the lineup.
Overall, it’s safe to say that the Zenith Chrono Master Sport rocked the first cape of Daytona design inspiration. This is mostly because the versions that come out of Zenith Design Studio are different. The brand’s sports chronographs demonstrate great variety through the various runs we’ve seen, from the rose gold models in luxury blue ceramics and gem sets to the more modest Chronomaster Sport Titanium.
They all have a specific charm that solidifies the Chronomaster Sports as one of my favorite sports chronographs. How does this new Chronomaster Sport Met stone fit into a list of different models? I’m not the biggest fan of met stone dials in general, so I have to admit that I have been questioning this review. However, I love this new version and it is available at a price tag of 18,300 euros. As a result, it’s one of my favorite versions right after the titanium model. I was able to see myself owning both as the perfect Zenith Chronomaster sports model.
