There are essentially different dates on a Rolex. Putting the brand’s topline model on your wrist is not like wearing a gold Daytona or GMT Master. why? The obvious answer is that it’s not a sports watch like the other two. But that’s too easy. The real answer relates to the aura of dates. From the moment it was introduced to this day, the date has always been the brand’s top line model. This watch is seen on the wrist of a long list of famous historical figures. Combine the two to create an ambitious aura you feel when placed on your wrist. This year, Rolex added a new Day-date 36 ref. Use the 128235 olive green dial to enter the lineup. Does it still have the same aura as the classic date? I had the opportunity to find it.
When it comes to Rolex dates, I think I’m a bit of a purist. My ultimate version is the yellow gold model with a gold dial with a regular marker. It is the watch that carries its special aura best. How is it best to explain that? It’s all for me as a sign of personal accomplishments. When everything is said and done in my professional life, it is a watch that I spend money on. I put it on my wrist, sit down, relax in the rocking chair, make it easy. That being said, I will not leave the other versions of the date. I love it too, and I won’t say “no.”
New Everose Rolex Day-Date 36 Olive Green Ref. 128235
What I’ve always admired about Rolex in general is that the dates in particular are that it has not changed over time. Putting the current date on your wrist still has the same majestic feeling as placing a Ref. 18238 on the wrist from the 1990s. Certainly, the overall production quality has been significantly improved, but the sense of magic remains the same. So when the kind people from Rolex in Brussels presented the new olive green dial version, I knew I was going to take part in the treat. It was the perfect cherry on top of a series of new releases, including the entire series of Gold Daytonas, resident in the new sky, and the stunning Full Gold 1908.
But like I said, putting a date for the day on your wrist is different. Ah, to be clear, that’s all about the 36mm date for me. Despite its modest size, it has a very large wrist presence. The 40mm version is too big for me to grow. So I was happy to see the new Olive Green Dial version of the 36mm Everose version. First, Everose and Yellow Gold give off an essentially different vibe. I don’t always like each other. It depends on the clock.
First impressions continue with the date in Everrose Gold
For some watches, the Everose Gold works better. An example is the 40mm Everrose Gold Yachtmaster, compared to the 42mm yellow gold version. As for Daytona, I have my favourites for both Everose and Yellow Gold. GMT Master? I prefer the complete Yellow Gold GMT Master over the Everose Gold version. I generally prefer the date yellow gold, but I am ready to be intrigued and disappointed by this new version. And that’s exactly what happened.
After closing the hidden closure with a nice, firm click, and then giving the watch a mandatory wrist roll to praise the dial, I was really impressed with the combination of materials and colours. That new olive green sunray dial is absolutely incredible, especially in combination with the everrose gold elements. It creates a soft and friendly presence with the eyes easily, and is therefore easy to get used to. After placing it on my wrist it was taken out immediately.
The second thing that stood out was how well the watch was worn. The 36mm case is 12mm thick, with a thickness of 43.4mm from lug to lug. The size is modest, but as I have already said, it has grandeur in its presence. Wearing the date is impressive at least thanks to the brilliant bracelet president. I probably don’t need to look into what makes that bracelet so shocking. It is my favorite Rolex bracelet and undoubtedly one of my three favorite bracelets ever created. Overall, wearing a new date is an absolute joy!
New Day Dating 36 Olive Green Dial
This will display a new olive green dial. Overall, I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of the Sunray dial. But leave it to Rolex to get the Sunray dials done well. First of all, the tone of the dial is gorgeous. It is rich, but not a green colour. Furthermore, the sunray pattern is subtle and plays with a shade of green and the glow of its existence. In the year we were treated to a series of new Rolex dial colors, this new olive green dial fits perfectly.
Along with the beautiful green dial is a set of Everose gold Roman style markers. As you can see, it’s not a complete set of numbers. Even times get Roman numbers except for the 12 o’clock marker (due to the day window). Uneven times will switch things off nicely by getting regular baton markers. The finish of the facet marker is perfect. It’s absolutely a joy to explore the dial with a magnifying glass to see the small complexity. Outside the dial is a golden minute track that was interrupted at 6 o’clock by “Swiss-made” text with a Rolex Coronet in the center.
The day date 36 dial is really impressive
As you can see, the day window is neatly placed inside the track at 12 o’clock. Everrose’s large coronet is just below, with the lines of text above and below perfecting the dial’s aesthetic. Date and date discs use the same white background as the black numbers. The latter is expanded by the signature Rolex Cyclops. The white contrasts well with the green dial, but it’s not strict at all, as the overall presence is friendly and surprisingly tight due to the surprising date.
Hidden behind the beautifully polished caseback is the Rolex Caliber 3255. The automatic movement offers 70 hours of power reserve and -2/+2 seconds of accuracy per day. This has been the date powertrain since the current generation date was introduced in 2019.
Final Thoughts on the New Everose Rolex Day and 36 Olive Green
In the stream of amazing new Rolex releases, this Everrose version of Day Dating 36 with a new olive green dial quickly stood out. It has an overall overall presence and has a much less face than the average date. But I love it about this new olive green version of Everose Day-Date. The main reason is the shade of green, which creates miracles with ever male tones. If you can put that label on the day’s date, it creates an almost unassuming presence. The trick is to reduce the contrast between Everrose Gold and Olive Green. The result is one of the most amazing day dates I’ve ever worn.
The Everrose Rolex date with the olive green dial surprised me with its presence, but Rolex dates were not normally the case. Does it replace the very definitive yellow gold date to make it a watch to wear in that rocking chair? The fair answer is that it is not. I still like the yellow gold model with a dial featuring baton markers. However, I have to say I really like this new perspective on the date of the day. After all, one of the most understated models is one of the most eye-catching in the current collection, and will be yours for 43.900 euros. Almost 70 years after its introduction, I love that the Rolex date can still surprise me. The unexpected appeal of this made it difficult to remove the watch from my wrist if I had to.
