Chronoswiss has shed absolute tears over the past year with new case designs and movements. Today, the transformative rollout is still ongoing with the most clear release. The Pulse One model introduces an all-new integrated case and bracelet design.
I’ve been paying attention to the rebirth of Chronoswiss. The brand has introduced a new, more modern case that preserves the DNA of past watches. The onion crown, coin edge bezel and bold dial collar came for the ride, but the watch looks different in a good way. They are wearables and offer competitive specifications thanks to the in-house designed La Joux-Perret movement. Today’s Pulse 1 model could be the most mainstream production to date, and could put the company in the spotlight.
Pulse One Sand and Blue
If a small producer like Chronoswiss joins the fight, the trends in integrated bracelet watches need to stay here. Thankfully, the effort looks incredible! The new Pulse 1 is a Grade 5 Titanium Watch in two variations. The sand model has a salmon-colored dial, while the blue version has a rich tone of royal blue. The case is 41mm wide, 46.27mm long, and 12.75mm thick. Chronoswiss is moving away from the strap option for the first time, offering watches with only titanium bracelets. Suitable for a sporty aesthetic, Pulse One also has a competent rating of 10 bar resistance.
Looking at the bracelet
Although we don’t often start reviews with details of the bracelet, it appears that Chronoswiss designed the gem. We haven’t done Pulse One practically yet, but the photos show a high level of articulation and finishing touches. On the finely polished top surface there is a small, refined area between the links that create visual interest. But my favorite details are how the butterfly clasp sinks under the bracelet. This should help avoid thick fastener areas and increase comfort. Plus, the links use screws, which always feels good.
New case design
The Pulse One boasts a new case design, the best reinterpretation of the classic Chronoswiss form. Media Blast midcase shows off curved forms that have never been seen before in branded products. The downward curves that make up the crown guard are technical and elegant. Next, instead of the typical fine top and bottom case rings, the watch’s sophisticated knurling is thicker.
It makes for a sportier look, but it’s also like high-end jewelry. Naturally, an onion crown appears, making it surprisingly well suited for the case design. Finally, like a bracelet, the bezel has a brushed top surface, making it consistent with a sporty theme.
Pulse One Dial is its own Chronoswis
Chronoswiss rarely brings a traditional dial with three centrally mounted hands, and the pulses support the tradition. The sub-dial at the top shows the time, and the minutes in the center hand displays the meeting minutes. However, the real party trick is the lower subdial of retrograde seconds. As a watch publication, I’ll mention retrograde displays of relative frequency, but it’s interesting if you’ve never met in person.
For details, the sand and blue model includes deep angled Lehhout with applied batons. The top subdials are above the main colored section and also include the applied index. In the sand model, Chronoswiss chose blue CVD coated time markers and hands.
The Blue Edition has cooler tones with Rhodium-plated hardware. Note the printed retrograde scale with the name Chronoswiss on one end of the ARC and the unique LE number on the other side. Perhaps the only oversight I noticed with these sporty dials is the lack of bright materials. Otherwise, I would love the layout and details.
C.6001 Automatic diameter
Pulse 1 is an in-house designed automatic caliber manufactured with La Joux-Perret, and follows other recent Chronoswiss releases. The C.6001 is a 31 jewel movement with a 28,800 VPH frequency and a 55-hour power reserve. It is well finished with a skeletonized tungsten rotor and radioactive Geneva stripes.
Clean your wrists
I look forward to seeing one metal pulse model with Watches and Mysterious one next month. For now, we can only assume that the reasonable lug-to-lug length and lightweight construction will fit moderately sized wrists.
Conclusion (for now)
Pulse One is a unique proposal within the integrated bracelet genre. The sporty case is fresh and it’s nice to see a different dial style on this type of watch. At 12,900 euros, it’s oddly competitive. Furthermore, since ChronoSwiss produces only 100 of each variant, Pulse 1 must remain a special product. Honestly, Chronoswiss has created one of the new watches that look better than I’ve seen recently. I can’t wait to check it out in real life. Make mine blue!
