I’m back in another release set from Watches and Wonders 2025. If you missed these with all the coverage you read, we’re here to fill you up. The new Eberhard Coltodat Watch has been straight from the 70s, but it’s not kitschy. These were some of my favorite novelties.
Eberhard is a difficult Swiss brand with Italian talent. In fact, Italy remains the most popular market. Still, online sales and multiple retailers allow you to find and try out the company’s offerings. The latest additions to the catalog ensure detailed inspections as they are good – really good. Balazs and I were lucky enough to check them out with watches and wonders, and we took some practical photos.

Some history
The early 1970s were a tumultuous time for the Swiss watch industry. The quartz crisis was hit hard, and many brands began to disappear. Eberhard was certainly influenced, but the company has doubled with the new Contograf. The watch embraced the look of an integrated bracelet from the 70s, but remained mechanical. Even when others moved to automatic calibers, Eberhard used a lovely in-house 310-82 hand-winding movement. This column-based equipment icon also featured a quick set date. Today, these pieces are cherished by collectors and are rarely for sale.
Eberhard Coltodat Collection
Eberhard has chosen a new name for his vintage-inspired collection. The new Coltodat line consists of two basic models: a chronograph and a three-hand automatic. Each model is split individually, but has top-level similarities. The case is stainless steel with an integrated bracelet. Additionally, each model uses top grade Cerata automatic calibers. Finally, this is welcome news. Both styles have a rating of 100m depth and offer screw down crowns.
Coltodat Chronography
The new Coltodat Chronographe has a diameter of 39mm and a thickness of 13.9mm. Although I couldn’t measure the lug-to-lug, the watch felt comfortable on my small wrist and the large wrist of Balaz. Available with blue, silver or green dials with Sunray and Azurage finishes. I was able to see the silver and blue versions. Both show orange details such as the outer taphimeter scale, the hand of the central chronograph, and part of the inner track on the counter for 30 minutes (a 45 minute scale also extended). Bright white Super Luminova is in hand and applied index. It’s refreshing to see this instead of the fake patina that is typically used in reissues.
More details
The Coltodat Chronographe has a signed screwed crown and a long pump pusher. Balazs said it’s good to see the long, tactile pushers that encourage use. From my side I found it to be smooth using a chronograph. The crown was also easily involved and I didn’t feel any wobble at all.
Eberhard also chose to use a solid screw-in stainless steel case. Again, it’s a great move. Frankly, there’s no need to see another move with a utilitarian finish. That’s not to say that the Contodat Chronographe uses a tattered powertrain. The Sellita SW510 B HA is a 27-jewel automatic caliber with a frequency of 28,800VPH and a 58-hour power reserve. It provides quick set dates, hacking features, 30 minute counters, and running seconds subdials.
Thoughts and pricing
When they think there’s enough vintage reissue, Eberhard comes with the winner. Perhaps it’s because Eberhard is a small, niche brand. But the more likely reason is that the watch is running well and feels great on your wrist. They aren’t very thin, but 70’s style watches deserve some weight. When it comes to pricing, the Contodat Chronographe Watch is coming for 3,970 euros. It’s not cheap, but Eberhard feels competitive against other long-standing names, not micro-brand. Overall, these chronographs were amazed by the watch and wonders – positive ones!
Coltodat Automatic
Eberhard chose to add the second model to the Coltodat collection. The automatic is a three-handed reference with a catch. There is a central hour and minute display, with a subdial of seconds at 9 o’clock and a date window at 3. It looks different, unlike the chronograph, and is not based on previous models.
Similar footprint
Again, the watch is 39mm wide, but with a more simple movement, it is only 11.3mm thick. There is also the same integrated bracelet, but there are more dial color options available. Blue, green, silver, black and gray are available in a mix of sunrays and shiny finishes. Note the trapezoidal date window, a vintage touch found in both models.
Inside, the Sellita SW290-1 operates auto. The frequency is 28,800 VPH and the power reserve is 41 hours. Like a chronograph, the watch has a solid stainless steel screw case. On the wrist, this watch is also comfortable and well built. A refined central link adds a level of elegance to an otherwise sporty-looking watch. It is wonderful, different, and welcome in the sea of similar products from other brands. As for prices, the automatic list is 2,940 euros.
Final thoughts
He also almost missed out on his appointment with Everhard due to a scheduling accident, which would have been a shame. The Coltodat collection is a highlight, indicating that it is still possible for small brands to be surprised and pleased at relatively affordable prices. Please let us know what you think about these latest releases.
