The Casio G-Shock 2100, better known as “CasiOak,” is already a pretty tough watch, both aesthetically and functionally. While it’s not as overtly macho as other G-Shock models (the Madman GW-9500 immediately comes to mind), the octagonal case, pedestal-like indexes, and generous proportions give it a distinctly muscular feel. Masu. However, the new G-Steel Metal Cover GM-2100D series manages to soften the CasiOak aesthetic somewhat by not only enhancing it thanks to a new steel cladding, but also introducing a bold new colored dial. Masu.
These are the first models in the GM-2100 line of metal bezel watches to feature metal bracelets, as well as sky blue, navy blue, lime green, orange, and silver. These dials look much more premium than the standard CasiOaks plastic dials. There are also subtle stripes on the indexes that catch the light, making them slightly easier to read (also, the indexes are silver on all models except the silver dial model, providing a point of contrast). ).
The bracelet features a Y-link design and a three-point adjustable folding clasp. Most are brushed, with a slight pop of polish on the edges to give it a faux extra link look. Similarly, the case’s exterior has a mix of polished and matte surfaces, with the top of the bezel having a subtle radial brushing and polished lugs.
It’s important to note that underneath the steel is a typical G-Shock resin case, which is actually just a metal bezel/cladding (hence the “metal-covered” nickname) ). However, this is not a cheapening of Casio. The resin case helps keep this 45mm watch from being too heavy while maintaining CasiOak’s incredible shock resistance.
Being a CasiOak, it is packed with features such as 5 daily alarms, day/date display, world timer, 1/100 second chronograph timer, and super illuminator double LED backlight. It is water resistant to 200 meters and has a 3 year battery life.
