When we think of Bovet, we think of the complex case architecture that houses the most luxurious astronomical complications. But there’s more to the brand, and the new Récital12 is probably the best evidence that Bovet can be worn every day. With a sporty 40mm case and matching titanium bracelet, you can bring the best bob to the dial in a surprisingly subtle way. In 2025, Bovet is refreshing the Racital 12 with a trendy stone dial that offers both malachite and tiger eye options.
Dial
Interestingly, the actual dial section of the Récital12 is restricted to a central off-rare display wrapped in swirling bridges and striping. Register your regular guilloche and Bovet will shine natural stones and feature simple white printing with time, brand name and limited edition numbers.
The rest of the traditional dial area is featured by a movement architecture designed for symmetry, with the shape of the balance cock reverberating at 6am. Between them, you can track seconds using three running indicators, but honestly, its intricately blurry spokes are impressive enough.
case
When designing the Récital12, Bovet tried to create a watch that could be worn comfortably all day long. 40mm is actually on the larger side of the spectrum these days, but it’s by no means big. Thanks to the 5th grade titanium construction and 9.8mm thick, there’s no need to worry about placing importance on bulkiness on your wrists. However, since this is a Bovet, you can expect an advanced case finish. Glittering polishing dominates the design, and the brush is used as a highlighting element on the sides of the rug, below the length of the flat link bracelet.
bracelet
The bracelet itself is not tapered, but the Bovet offers the illusion of slimness with long, polished segments in the center, narrowing towards the butterfly clasp. I usually groan about butterfly clasps, as I rarely offer on-the-fly adjustments that require a true daily need, but with Récital12 we are lucky. The watch clasp hidden in the structure has 3mm adjustable wrists as needed, all without affecting the design.
Movement
The catchy named Caliber 13BMDR12C2, created for viewing from the front, can still be viewed through the display caseback. With 43 gems and 227 components, it is extremely complicated in time-only caliber and beating at 3Hz in an impressive 7 days. However, there is not much actual movement as Bovet essentially reversed the movement. This means that the side usually appears below the dial. Still, Bovet does a good job of adorning the movement with circular stripes centered around the second indicator that cut out the keyless piece.
verdict
Buffy said it best in their work, presenting the Racital 12 for the first time – it’s not a sports watch at all, but it’s a new proposal from Bovet. With a set of refreshed dials, it plays out in the market’s current obsession with stone dials, offering more variations to Bovet’s most versatile watches.
