This is from Blue! With all the expectations for 2025, we didn’t foresee the Hermetique motocross version of the Baltic Sea, but we’re here. More specifically, Hermetique’s dual-time endo palais edition of the Baltic Sea celebrates a new collaboration between the young Parisian brand and the legendary annual enduro event.
If you move quickly, you can earn one of the 200 numbered launch editions using a specially engraved caseback. Baltotic always rewards early adopters with such a launch version. This is great. Still, the regular production model is not that interesting. Let’s take a closer look!
Enduropale du touquet-pas-de-calais
Before you look at the clock, quickly explore the Enduro Pearl event itself. Thierry Sabine, the founder of the Paris Dakar Rally, also founded the Enduropare du Touquet Pas des Carrey in 1975.
A whopping 2,700 motocross bikers gather on the beach and play a tired three-hour race over the sand, coastline and dunes. The 13km track is lined with over 600,000 spectators. In short, there are all the ingredients for an absolute mayhem on February 9th. If you want to see the chaos unfold, you can do so through this link.
Hermetique dual-time enduro pearl edition of the Baltic Sea
On the watch. I was a little surprised when I first saw Baltotic opting for the Enduropere version of the Hermetique line. Such a subtle, classically elegant watch may be a bit off on a muddy motocrosser. However, since Hermetique is a Baltic field watch, it actually makes sense.
Luckily, the Baltic Sea didn’t just hit the logo on existing watches. The Hermétique DualTime Enduropale edition is structurally different from the existing models. You may have noticed an additional crown at 9am to control the internal two-way bezel. This bezel displays time and the first three are color coded over the time of the lace. The first two hours are green and the last time is purple to let you know you’re on a stretch at home. Of course, the wearer can also use the bezel to view different time zones.
The Baltic Sea chose the green and purple themes as references to the bikes of the 90s. I also saw this color scheme at the 2022 Aquascaphe dual-crown. Like that watch, this is available with a choice of green rubber straps or a Baltic Flat Link or squirrel beaded bracelet.
BALTIT HERMETIQUE DUAL TIME ENSTUROPALE EDITION Specification
Baltotic retained the classic proportions of the new Hermetique’s dual-time Entero Pare edition. This means getting a stainless steel case with a diameter of 37mm and a lug-to-lug 46mm. Additionally, it offers a convenient 20mm lug spacing with a thickness of 10.8mm. Double-dome sapphire crystals should ensure that dirt does not cause scratches. Meanwhile, 150 million water resistance ratings should be sufficient on French beaches.
The matte gray dial ensures optimal readability. Baltotic maintained a 0.5mm thick Super Luminova time marker with a blue glowing BGW9.
Check the Miyota 9039 inside. We know this caliber from the regular Hermetique, so it makes sense to see it here. This simple yet reliable automatic movement offers 42 hours of power reserve and a few seconds of hacking.
Baltic Sea Hermetique’s first impression dual-time enduro pearl edition
The fun French word Ratatouille best describes the dual-time enduro pearl version of Hermetique from the Baltic Sea. Design elements clash with anachronism between 1990s colours and mid-term cases. The tropical style straps, which are strongly associated with vintage diving watches, further enhance the potpourri of style elements. Also throwing numbers in different styles, anachronistic and can be strange to our hands.
The conceptual discrepancies extend to the durability-specific features of the 3-hour counter. I like the colour coding after finish and the enduro pearl style checkered pattern. However, color coding doesn’t work at all because the Baltic Sea chose to color fine hands rather than time hand. This means you need to count three-fifths of the blocks. It’s a case of style rather than material, I’m afraid.
The above two paragraphs suggest that I strongly dislike the dual-time Endero Pearl version of Hermetique in the Baltic Sea. I don’t! Watches don’t always have to make perfect sense. For me, the results here seem fun and interesting. I really like the colour, especially with matching elastic straps. It captures the typical French spirit found in the old Citroen: is it completely wise? Not. Is it cool? oui! Baltotic can offer all this for 600 euros before tax.
