Writing about clocks from afar can be a challenging task. Certainly, it’s easy to understand the specifications, finishing methods and purpose of a new release. But I believe in seeing. Again, we may come face to face when a potentially desirable watch is finished in a disappointment. Thankfully, BA1111od Chapter 7 is a work that offers more than the specifications on its own. We spent time in the Forest Green version with the bracelet. This is my opinion.
The people at ba1111od know that they have a tricky brand name. If you see it as Baillod (using every ounce of questionable understanding of French), everything is fine. Think of the current outfit as a modern look at the founder Thomas Beyrod’s surname. Since 2019, the brand has released seven model series known as “Chaps” in various price ranges. Regardless of price, BA1111OD relies on direct sales of watches via websites, a small number of stores and, interestingly, referrals from existing customers. Watches like the latest chapter 7 rely on a combination of all these sales strategies for success, but it is clear that you need to run your watch well. Is that? Let’s take a look.
BA1111od Chapter 7 Chronometer Forest Green
When BA1111od announced Chapter 7 in February, they discussed the release in detail. In general, comments were preferred due to their design and affordability. However, the brand name and model name – Chapter 7 means liquidation of US business – has been subject to some heat. Still, we’re here for the watch, so let’s sum up the specs.
Chapter 7 is a 40mm x 47mm stainless steel watch available with an integrated bracelet or rubber strap. We chose to test the former as it is likely a more popular choice. The watch hits a 10.5mm thick sweet spot, containing sapphire crystals on either side of the case. A rating of 100m depth also ensures that Chapter 7 can be performed for most of the activities of life.
The athletic certification is impressive
Using the SOPROD P024 with a 38-hour power reserve is not that exciting. No, the interesting part is that the watch has official chronometer certification. More than that, Geneva’s Time Love tests each movement and provides performance reports on each watch. This will be accurate within 6/-4 seconds per day. Prices at CHF 880/€950/US$1,045 are priced at $1,045 for a bracelet and with a CHF 820/€895/US$990 elastic strap, there is serious potential value here. Of course, if the watch is only about specs and is worn like a junk toy, it’s all steak and never baked. Thankfully, that’s not the case at all.
Chapter 7 is lovely for the hands and wrists
Ba111od was a participant in the clock, the event next to clocks and wonders in Geneva. While there, I paved the way for me to sit with the brand and test my watch. After seeing some references it was time to check out the watch I came to see. Chapter 7 is a very good looking piece, and while not unique among the rise in sports watches inspired by the 1970s, it is enough to distinguish itself. Another observation is that the watch is in your hand. The bracelet is fluid and not too thick or too thin. Often, micro-branded watches feel thick in the hands and are built to the cost. For some reason, BA1111od Chapter 7 does it with a nice edge, avoiding the sharp transition between polished and brushed surfaces, and the wonderful bracelet.
When it comes to integrated bracelet watches, I often find myself comfortable from the chute, but after a while it often feels like a constrained cuff. Chapter 7 combines a lovely case size with a comfortable bracelet that creates a seamless fit.
Plus, the clasp is fantastic with its slide lever Tools micro adjustment system. Did you mention that the link uses screws for removal? Honestly, if a small brand like the BA1111od can equip a sub-CHF 1,000 watch with a bracelet just as great as this, then the excuse for a larger brand is outside the window.
The controversial place of the crown
Our original article had some comments on Chapter 7 of 4 o’clock and its crown. Some people weren’t fans. That’s a bit of a Seiko move, and in my opinion it’s great to see something a little different in this genre. The brand wants to mention the increased comfort in this arrangement. Frankly, I’ve never had any issues anywhere where the crown is placed, but I’m fine with the look and I have a hard time seeing it as a deal maker or breaker.

Enter the matrix in the Guilloché dial
On the dial in Chapter 7, there is what BA1111od calls the Cascade Guilloti Pattern. From my advantage it looks like digital rain from the matrix film. It’s cool and looks a bit different from the standard, like a crown. If anything, I have no idea about how it can be, I hope it will be seen more prominently. Still, for those who don’t have a large dial texture, this design is not overwhelming. Similarly, the applied and faceted indexes are of the right size and allow for a clean look. In dark environments, the Super Luminova in index and hand emits an easy-to-read blue glow.
Final Thoughts on Chapter 7 of BA1111
It’s hard to dislike what BA1111od did in Chapter 7. Yes, the chronometer certified move is a big draw, but the entire package is worth watching. The brand didn’t simply choose precise movements and surround it with cheap, second-class fittings. This is a comfortable watch that doesn’t require an apology despite the bargain’s acquisition price. It’s great to see this type of product within an industry that has increased its price beyond the four-digit mark of any currency, even some of the most reliable names. Affordable watches with excellent specs and build quality have a future, with the BA1111od running as a leader.
