The latest interpretation of Tom Austin Alpina’s rugged yet classy sports watches is now available in Grade 2 Titanium. Available only in the 39mm version, the new Titanium Alpinner Extreme is ideally sized for most wrists and is lighter than ever. This release is the first time Alpina uses titanium in its watches, providing a unique look in the lineup, as well as being more robust in line with the brand heritage of Alpina’s tool watches.
While Alpina has a long history of making sports watches, you can discuss what defines sports watches, it is fair to say that Alpina has been successful in creating watches that meet the most practical requirements. Since the first sports watch in 1938, the Alpina 4, they have taken characteristics such as water and impact resistance, contradenaturation, rugged materials and more very seriously, and now they are taking it a step further in 2025 with the brand’s first all-titanium watch, the new Alpiner Extreme Automatic Titanium.
Currently, the extreme range of alpinna is available in three size options: 41mm, 39mm and 34mm. The extreme case design meant that the 39mm release in 2024 was very welcome, meaning that it would make the watch more accessible to a wide range of viewers and offer a slightly more refined, compact package. Using titanium in this new model makes perfect sense with Alpina using the latest 39mm x 40.5mm design. Taking advantage of its compactness, we guarantee that we are in the current size trends that we all love now.
Speaking of trends, this case features an integrated bracelet design rather than the way you know it. The main section of the case, made of three parts, has a cushion design, and the bracelet rug extends from the inside of the “sandwich.” As a result, this structure can ensure water resistance of 200 meters thanks to its screw-down crown and engraved case, making it an impressive, angular aesthetic work equally.
However, it’s not just about materials and construction with alpinners. Like many watches in this category, the Alpinner features a satin silver finish textured dial, decorated with its iconic triangle motif patterns. The colour is not particularly exciting, but it distinguishes it from other ranges. The applied time marker is finished with a high polished black mother mother mother and topped with a bright white material to make the time easier to read. And finally, there’s a red flash in the second hand, breaking things a little and energizing the dial.
Like all automatic Alpine Alpinner extremes, this watch is equipped with an Alpina al-525 caliber based on the Serata SW-200-1, beating at 4Hz and providing a 38-hour power reserve. The titanium version will reclaim the engraved solid case to hide its movement. I’m everything about this. It helps to minimize weight and doesn’t need a sapphire case back on a watch like this. However, the movement hides a cool asymmetrical rotor. But I think weight and robustness are the priority here.
Once again, the first time I finish the watch is a completely solid two-titanium bracelet, consisting of brushed H-links with neat polishing on the sides. Equipped with a neat push button release folding buckle, you can access the spring bar if you want to replace the bracelet with a rubber strap.
