Angelus has been making waves in recent years, injecting fresh energy into its lineup with bold, technical designs that blend avant-garde aesthetics with high-end watchmaking. The latest addition, the Flying Tourbillon Titanium, maintains its momentum, plays with space, structure and transparency, and feels deeply rooted in classic watchmaking.
This is the second release of Angelus’ modern series, following Chronodate, a watch I’ve admired since its release in 2022. With this latest release, the brand is leaning towards its signature look, proving that it is not even interested in playing safer. . As someone with a soft spot on skeletonized watches, I think this is checking all the right boxes.
Angelus’s research in dynamic architecture
At 42.5mm, flying tour bellon titanium is built to be present, but its construction keeps it lightweight and comfortable. This case combines a carbon composite core with open work titanium structure to create an impressive depth effect. Hanging between sapphire crystal and PVD treated bridges, floating Arabian numbers add to the layered aesthetics of the clock, keeping things easy to read.
Inside, there is a hand-winding A-310 caliber, a movement designed around a series of circular elements, as is apparent when viewed from the rear. In front of the plane, a flying tour Billon stole the spotlight, surrounded by barrels ranging from 9am to 1pm to 1am. With a 60-hour power reserve, this caliber is built for both performance and spectacle.
In contrast, play
The first edition is finished in a deep blue and features PVD treated bridges, matching tiny flanges, and Super Luminova coated floating figures that glow in the dark. This contrast makes the multi-layered structure of the movement even more impressive. Openwork three-arm wheel, Angelus’ signature adds another layer of visual intrigue, turning to the flying Tour Billon Bridge, surrounded by an unexpected 160 degree. Why 160 degrees? So why not?
Comfort and versatility
Sitting comfortably here is Angelus’ quick change strap system. This allows you to switch between titanium bracelets, alligator straps or elastic straps depending on your mood. For me, the rubber straps are perfect for such a modern watch, and are closely followed by titanium bracelets. Leather has its place, but for watches with such a futuristic design, I’m more leaning towards technical choices. Despite the diameter of the watch being 42.5mm, it does not seem to be large at least with titanium. Since they wore lots of titanium watches, they know that their dimensions tend to wear smaller than suggested thanks to the weight of their feather lights. This is no different either.
Limited and exclusive
Angelus produces only 25 flying Tourbillon titanium pieces, making it a collector’s work. Prices reflect craftsmanship and innovation.
CHF 47,000 on a titanium bracelet (with additional crocodile and rubber strap) CHF 45,000 (with additional rubber strap)
Final Thoughts on Angelus Flying Tourbillon Titanium
Angelus proves he is not afraid to push boundaries, and flying tourbillon titanium is a prime example of its philosophy in its actions. It’s bold and technical, visually impressive, and some watches can somehow manage to do so.
My partner and I are expecting a baby just two weeks ago, so we won’t see this in person this year. But I’m probably watching it far from home during some sleepless late nights. If this is the direction Angelus is heading, I’m excited to see what follows: What do you think about this new release? As always, let us know in the comments!
