Grand Seiko has been steadily expanding its Evolution 9 Collection since its introduction in 2020. A wide variety of releases were seen linked together by a combination of modern case designs and the new technically advanced Calibur. For the latest introduction, Grand Seiko releases two variations of the popular models in its collection. The first is the Grand Seiko “Sunrise” Tertagraph SLGC006, a titanium variation of the first two titagraph models. The second is the “Moonlight Birch” SLGW007. This is a popular manual find high beat model play introduced last year between watches and wonders. It’s enough to unpack these two watches, so let’s take a closer look.
The Grand Seiko Evolution 9 series has become synonymous with the brand’s most exciting technological development. We’ve seen the introduction of a series of great mechanical and spring drive calibers. Among them are the manual-wound Hi-Beat 9SA4 introduced last year, and the Hi-Beat Tertagraph 9SC5, which debuted in 2023. Both match the angular case designs that will bring Grand Seiko’s famous design style to the future. As a result, the Evolution 9 series is Grand Seiko’s most exciting line.
Grand Seiko’s “Sunrise” Titograph SLGC006
Let’s start things with Ttertagraph SLGC006. At first glance, it looks like a variation of the first two “regular” Tentagraph models, the first Dark Blue SLGC001 in 2023, and the Ice-Blue SLGC007, which was announced earlier this year. But there’s more to the story than just a new dial. This new version combines Grand Seico high-strength titanium with 18K rose gold. This makes for an interesting new release with a layer of visual glow added.
The new “Sunrise” Tentograph SLGC006 has a high-strength titanium case with a 43.2mm diameter and 51.5mm lagtoo lug. Topped with it, it is a 18K rose gold bezel with a black ceramic insert on a white tachymeter scale that contributes to the watch’s 15.3mm profile.
Additionally, the watch has a rose gold crown and a pusher. The rose gold elements create a slightly more playful and luxurious, distinctive look than the Tentergragraph SLGC001/009. Adding to your visual story is a new dial. It requires the SLGH027 concept introduced earlier this year, and adds a colorful twist.
The new dial is a great display of colour
As you can imagine, the dial has a nature-inspired backstory. This time, Grand Seiko designers discovered that the muse decorated the sides of Mount Ys in the morning sunlight. The result is a dial with copper hues combined with a pattern of sunray textures that evoke mountain ridges and rough surfaces. The soft tone of the dial is complemented by a Burgundy Chronograph counter, a deep copper subsecond register, and rose gold plated hands, date frames, and applied indexes. Additionally, the hour and minute one hand and time markers have bright fillings that make them easier to read in the dark.

This case is paired with a 22mm wide high strength titanium bracelet with a folding clasp that includes a rose gold medallion. Turning the watch around, you’ll see a fantastic 9SC5 folding caliber. This automatic chronograph movement runs at 36,000 VPH and offers a 72-hour power reserve. It includes Grand Seiko’s advanced dual impulse escape with free sprung balance. As a result, the caliber accuracy was +5 to -3 seconds per day, and tested over 20 days. These numbers remain within the COSC chronometer standard of +6 to -4 seconds per day.
Grand Seiko “Sunrise” Tertagraph Final Thoughts on SLGC006
Overall, this new “Sunrise” SLGC006 is a playful new version of modern folding. Not as shocking as the Angular Tokyo Lion SLGC009, but it’s a great break from the previous model. The rose gold detailing definitely adds a touch of sparkle that will appeal to people.
I found the dial on this new nthograph especially impressive. The texture and soft, beautiful colors make for a spectacular new dial variation. For 23,000 euros, this new 300-piece limited edition comes with a large price tag. However, given limited production, there is no doubt that when Grand Seico releases in October, all watches will soon find their way to collectors.
Grand Seiko “Moonlight Birch” SLGW007
The second of the two models quickly stole our hearts in the Fratello office. The new Grand Seiko “Moon-Lit Birch” SLGW007 is a new variation of the Hi-Beat Evolution 9 watch that was released last year. The SLGW003 and SLGW002 “Birch Bark” models have introduced new manual find calibers.
Combined with the interpretation of the 9 new evolution of the 44GS aesthetic, it has become a popular duo of watches. In today’s SLGW007, Grand Seiko presents a stylish dark blue dial with a similar white ch-like texture. Additionally, the new model has a stainless steel case. This is something many Grand Seiko fans welcome with open arms.
The SLGW007 case is 38.6mm in diameter, 9.95mm thick, and 45mm long. Its beautifully finished surface shows a great contrast between the brushed area and the rough accent. Minimum wrist movement accentuates the visual glow of the case finish.
The case is combined with a dark blue dial featuring the familiar “birch” pattern of previous models. However, as the watch’s nickname suggests, it has a completely different visual effect from the lighter version. It really looks like a nighttime version of the white ch pattern. It can sometimes look like a beautiful, wavy surface of a pond or river. A wonderfully detailed texture that works very well with a grayish-blue dial color.
The wonderfully detailed dial is another
The toned down dial features a sharp set of facets and application time markers that display a beautiful case-like finish. We’ve come to know this from Grand Seico, but when we see a watch like this up close, it’s never moving. Great attention to detail and perfect finish will blow most brands out of the water. The top half of the dial features the Grand Seiko logo and name. The lower half suggests the caliber that moves the new model. Topping everything in style is the familiar mobile phone used on most Evolution 9 models.
Looking back at the watch, you can see the 9SA4 caliber more closely. This manual winding movement is based on the automatic 9SA5. It operates at 36,000VPH and features a twin barrel construction that offers 80 hours of power reserve.
It also houses dual impulse escapements and has an integrated power reserve display on the rear. As you can see, the calibers are beautifully finished and showcase the craftsmanship of Grand Seiko watchmakers. Finishing the look is a folding clasp made from dark blue leather straps.
Final Thoughts on Grand Seiko’s “Moon -Lit Birch” SLGW007
As mentioned before, this new Grand Seiko “Moon – Lit Birch” SLGW007 is amazing. It quickly gained the hearts of the majority of the Frater team. The dial is really another and offers a fresh take on the watch that came out last year. The blue leather strap matches the dial well, but you can imagine this new SLGW007 working well with a variety of other straps. These can dramatically change the presence of the watch, but do not take away the visual impact of the gorgeous dial.
This new SLGW007 is an unlimited addition to the Grand Seiko’s Evolution 9 collection and is available for 10,200 euros in October 2025. With this new release, Grand Seiko may just have announced the best of the year. The watch is really good and will probably cover it more extensively with practical reviews. For now, it has absolutely fascinated us.
Both models will be available from Grand Seico Boutique and selected retailers starting October 2025. What do you think about the new Grand Seiko SLGC006 and SLGW007? Let us know in the comments below!
