Hamilton’s Khaki Field Line is the brand’s most popular and most famous collection. Outdoor watches are fan favorites and are available in many variations. With quartz, automatic and hand-wound calibers, and many dial options, you can get countless sizes of Hamilton khaki fields. But today, the brand introduces new complications to the khaki field mechanical dial. This is a power reserve indicator. The new Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve is in a 40mm case with a black or white dial selected.
To date, Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical is only available in sizes below 38mm and above 42mm. The new Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve fills that gap with its 40mm sandblasted stainless steel case. Let’s take a closer look.
Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve
As mentioned earlier, the new Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve fills the notable size gap within the Khaki Field Mechanical lineup. Its 40mm sandblasted stainless steel case is between a smaller 38mm and a larger 42mm version. The case, in particular its lug, is more rounded towards the edge, as in some other versions, with no holes in the lug. But like its small and large brother, this khaki field has a great, big crown for a simple, twisty setting.
The interior checks for the movement of a new manual winding called the H-23. Developed by ETA, it holds a comfortable power reserve of 80 hours. This has to do with new complications of khaki field mechanical. Complications are driven by differential mechanisms that operate by friction. The latter features a spring that slides into it to prevent the impact from causing desynchronization between the actual state of the power reserve hand and the main spring barrel. When you turn the movement, the system will automatically resynchronize. This slip spring also ensures that the crown does not reach a hard stop at a full finish.
Select the white and black dials
You can choose to get a new Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve with a white or black dial. Both versions feature a matte finish and feature distinctive khaki field numbers. The white variant has black print and hands, while the black version has white print and hands. Both have the dial and the old radium Super Luminova details in hand for easier reading in dark conditions.

There is a new power reserve indicator at the 9 o’clock position. It features a red “F” for the full and a red “e” in the sky. The layout is very practical and is consistent with the overall mechanical properties of the khaki field. There is the Hamilton logo at 12 o’clock, and at 6 o’clock there is text indicating the full power reserve.
On the wrist
On my 17cm wrist, I am a fan of the 38mm Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical. However, I often wear a new 40mm case due to the rounded lug and the modest 47.5mm lagtoo rug. I love the look of the green NATO strap watch with brown leather details. This matches the exploratory atmosphere of Khaki Field. However, you can also replace it with an Oykistile stainless steel bracelet with a combined sandblast finish and quick release spring bar.

Complications work
I usually don’t agree with the power reserve indicator on the dial. However, in hand-winding watches like Khaki Field Mechanical, complications add to functional properties. It’s cool to see it look very similar to a car’s fuel gauge. I think I liked to contrast “F” to white or black, but I think the dial is more balanced. Also, I love how this movement offers an 80-hour power reserve, so it doesn’t matter if I forget to turn my watch one morning.

The new Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve costs 915 euros on the NATO strap and 995 euros on the stainless steel bracelet. This makes it more expensive than both small and large variations of the Khaki Field Mechanical Collection. However, that price gives you extra complexity.
