Glashütte’s original is A. It may be placed as a more accessible Saxon counterpart for Lange & Söhne. This is like a simple comparison. Go has developed a unique, clear identity that offers watchmaking and aesthetics that are not found elsewhere in Glashütte, among others. The brand’s pano collection is defined by an asymmetric, off-center dial architecture that naturally invites comparisons of the Lange 1, but the story is as much about manufacturing depth as design. GO produces up to 95% of the athletic components and its dial. Its caliber also leaned against the regional signature, particularly the three-quarter plate with Grassut stripes and extensive hand finishing.
Glashütte Original has introduced a limited platinum version of the Panomatic Calendar, called “Blue of Dawn.” The watch pairs, in particular, an annual calendar with panoramic dates and retrograde months displays, with a predominantly skeletonized blue dial revealing its beautiful caliber 92‑11. This 42 mm model includes the 2 o’clock lunar phase and highlights the moon through a coloured blue sapphire crystal arc, so it requires one revision on March 1st each year. The theme of “Blue of Dawn” links the model to the brand’s watchmaker and its early start. Let’s get in early.
case
The panomatic calendar “Dawn of Blue” is rendered in platinum with dimensions that keep it straight in the area of modern dresses, ranging from a lug of 42mm diameter, 12.4mm thickness and 49.28mm lug toe. The profile is clean and traditional, with classic shaped lugs that allow you to dominate the dial architecture.
Practicality is addressed with a water resistance of 50m, a wise evaluation of this type of valuable watch. The engraved caseback frames sapphire crystal that opens movement to the inspection. How attractive a watch is to consider its finish and the visible calendar to work.
Dial
The “Blue at Dawn” dial tells a lot. It is extensively skeletonized, coated with deep blue with a fine matte “vinyl” finish and sounds with white gold hour markers. Low light readability is supported by the bright spots of each index. The time is indicated by a blue steel hand with a super lumino vine ray, but the date of the original Glasquitte signature panorama is 4 o’clock.
Another signature on the model, the retrograde month, unfolds along a bent blue sapphire crystal window between 3am and 6am. Thanks to the ring structure below, only one number is highlighted at a time. At 2 o’clock, the classic lunar phase provides an astronomical contrast. Its dark blue starry sky is made by hand: the details of the artisan who rewards meticulous inspections.
Hours and minutes occupy the familiar Panoff Centre display, with a few seconds just below, maintaining the asymmetry that defines the lines. The openwork area reveals the finishing touches on Hallmark’s Saxon. The Grassuch test lips across rhodium-covered three quarter plates, beveled edges, blue screws and polished steel components bring both depth and texture to the dial-side view. It’s a truly eye-catching treat.
strap
Glashütte’s original panomatic calendar, “Blue of Dawn,” is available in either a blue Louisiana crocodile leather strap or a blue synthetic fabric alternative. The former is a very traditional choice, while the latter is somewhat avant-garde, combining modern fabric straps with such a classic intricate watch. Both are attached to a platinum folding clasp. This is a lovely detail that maintains the case and material parity.
Movement
The display powers are internal micro-rotor automatic caliber 92‑11 visible from both sides. It runs at 4 Hz and stores 100 hours of power reserve. The technical foundation includes silicon balance springs that are resistant to magnetic and temperature fluctuations. The balance itself has solid regulation screws.
To meet the brand’s finishing standards, the caliber features decorative language found on the dial side: Glashütte stripes, bevels, hot soft screws, brightly coated steel. Functionally, the annual calendar takes up varying lengths of several months, with owners making a single manual revision each year on March 1st. As mentioned above, the logic of the mechanism is reflected in the dial. The work of the panoramic date and retrograde month is a faint sapphire arc reads at first glance. Each example is assembled, decorated and regulated in a branded workshop.
verdict
The Panomatic Calendar “Blue of Dawn” takes a measured approach to complex overviews. Rather than hiding the mechanic, use openwork dials to make calendar architecture and fundamental movements part of the aesthetic. The result was a clock that reads as a clear representation of Glashütte Original’s design code: asymmetrical displays, panoramic dates, and traditional Glashütte finishes all run in gorgeous platinum. This is worth awakening early.
