Last week we began our third final collaboration with Zenith, completing the surfer trilogy with Zenith X Time+Tide Defy Skyline Skeleton White Surfer Ceramic. This full ceramic watch, paired with an ice blue gradient dial, comes with both a full ceramic bracelet and a rubber strap, making it an ideal summer watch. But we’ve already read about all of these benefits, features and specifications. What you want to read right now is what happened when I introduced this ice cool watch to good people in London and Melbourne.
Thanks to the dual studios, you can perform consecutive events on the other side of the world, bringing the same atmosphere and excitement to both hemispheres. Even if London weather was a little more suitable for the summer atmosphere of the clock, Melbourne was tackling the cold of the midwinter.
Zenith fans will realize they do nothing by half. A fully integrated manufacturer can make any component of the watch from top to bottom. So when they came to us to host this joint venture launch event, we knew they wouldn’t hold back, and we didn’t either. While there are many advantages to being a member of a large, luxurious group like LVMH, one of the big things we saw firsthand was the free-flowing Moé and Belvedere that were on hand in both Melbourne and London. And it’s not a good party without a good theme. And that night, Blue was the colour we were wearing and drinking because we mixed cocktails to the inspiring dials of our collaboration.
Both our London and Melbourne Discovery Studios were packed for this one. This has welcomed regulars, newcomers and Zenith VIP clients into our space. Of course, we followed the time + tide staff perfectly at both locations. All London teams wear new baby blue Cuban collar shirts. Many Zenith team members participated, including Romun Marietta, the brand’s chief product manager.
After everyone arrived and sampled the blue drink, it was time to hear from the two men at the heart of this venture, our own Andrew McCutchen and Roman, who were working with this. Whether face to face in London, via pre-recorded videos for the people gathered in Melbourne, everyone was able to better understand how this watch was made and what it takes to do three collaborations with Trot.
As the two filmed microphones and started video, it was revealed that they had seen three watches in production over the past five years. They were proud fathers there, talking about the long relationship they had, the process that took place for these three watches and, most importantly, the latest white surfers.
After the speech was over, it was time for what many people would do. It was about practicing a new watch. There were several display models and perhaps even if the prototype was knocking, everyone who came was able to process the watch and discover what it was like in metal (ceramic). It wasn’t the limit of Melbourne’s excitement, but they hosted a variety of prizes. Headline lots are wall clocks that go against the pinnacle, the real eye-catching feature that adds to any room. Melbourne even had a DJ playing fresh summer beats.
These events mean that only a small portion of the community can be dealt with by touching and dealing with it, but I love hosting them and seeing people react when they first encounter a new watch. And we are even more excited to bring this experience to New York in the not too distant future. Thank you to everyone who came. I can’t wait to meet the next one.
Please enjoy a little more photos from the release of Zenith below. Have a great weekend!

Watch this week’s meme: We were all there
It can be difficult to be in this hobby/industry when your important others are zero interest in watches. I’m sitting down with them and trying to read an opinion piece on why DateJust looks like the best modern Rolex is an impossible task. Thankfully, there are watch podcasts that try to change things as Andrew, Ele and Kristian look to create a new kind of watch podcast.
This Week’s Wrist Shot: Roughrider
This may be one of the most difficult wrist shots I’ve ever seen. Widely known as the greatest cyclist of all time, Tadej Pogačar fell this week at the moment of Stage 11 closure at Tour De France. His footage as he slid across the road is enough to make sure he never wants to ride his bike again. But getting his frayed jersey and bloody elbow shots might be the best ad I’ve ever seen for Richard Mill while showing his RM67-02 in perfect condition.
Time+Tide Shop Pick of the Week: Christopher Ward C60 Trident Leaf
In addition to the summer heat, Christopher Ward has brought vibrant coloured energy to the holiday-ready diver line C60 Trident. Available in 5 different color combinations and two different sizes, 41mm and 44mm. There’s something here that pleases everyone. Do you need to go out and collect them all? That’s not what we say, but they can now only try and buy at our Discovery Studios in London and Melbourne. Price: Starting from £695/$1,275.
