Mechaquartz is the watch that started it all for Furlan Marri, and half expects that with its admiration it will only be solved without meaningful progress. Luckily, Furlan Marri is not a brand that rests on their glory. I’ve seen watches like the flyback and the release of Disco Volante, but I still pay attention to my roots in meaningful reviews. The latest one is probably my favorite as we see Furlan Marri launching two new variants of understated colors that are used to it. Sabbia Rosa and Aldesia Blue are pleased to be able to regain some of the touches we now see on the Discontin model and offer both at The Time+Tide Shop. This is everything you need to know.
The first of the two is a very soft, soft Sabbia Rosa (pink sand, Italian) with a 4N rose gold PVD coating and a rosy champagne dial. Existing releases of Furlan Marri do not suffer from wise colour combinations. In fact, they are all very beautiful, but this stands out to me as perhaps the best mecha-colts ever. The rosy interior transforms into rich gold with a flick on the wrist. Sapphire crystals are surprisingly snatched away from the warmth. It also brings Roman numerals applied to 6 and 12, previously replaced by Arabic.
Like all watches, Furlan Marri offers two quick release leather straps, while Sabbia Rosa stands out even more with its bright white numbers. Honestly, I really like alternatives. This is this super soft dark brown. The main event glows, slowly darkens from the dial to the case, providing a warm tone staggering contrast that ends with a strap.
And if you’re one of those who can’t have a 24-hour indicator on the dial, thanks to the Seiko VK64 Mecha Colts caliber, Fran Mari is releasing another colorway of the Mecha Colts, which scored the pulsation. Ardesia Blu (or Slate Blue if you’re translating) avoids the 3 o’clock counter due to all printed sector styles. With the exception of Black Minute tracks and second subdials, Ardesia Blue achieves visual interest by alternating dial brushing styles. The center is vertical, but the time ring is circular. Delicacy is also important here.
On the wrist, the thickness of 38mm diameter and 12mm thickness is consistent with all other FM Mechacort variants, as well as the 46mm lug-to-lug. But thanks to the blue dial and denim-like straps, the Ardesia Blu has a distinctly casual vibe against it despite its thorough case and gorgeous Tasti Tondi Pushers. Its alternative straps are bright baby blue and, like the white of the Sabbia Rosa, can add to the casual vibe of the watch, but I think the perfect tone look is just here.
As mentioned briefly before, both watches feature Seiko’s VK64 Mechaquartz movement. This is a general choice of entry-level chronographs that combine the affordability of quartz-based and the romanticism of mechanical chronograph modules with the satisfying pusher’s romanticism to operate it. If you are keen to learn more about technology, be sure to read Mechaquartz’s in-depth work.
