The video game industry has long outperformed the film industry in terms of revenue and cultural impact. According to most estimates today, the global video game market is worth more than US$200 billion, roughly four times the global box office revenue. The term used by the industry’s most well-known publishers, the “Triple-A” studio game can rival Hollywood’s blockbuster crops in terms of scale and production value.
That’s why it makes sense that Hamilton, a watchmaker known for his close collaboration with the film industry, is currently working with the video games that are the huge hits. It’s one of the most sensitive and unique games ever in Kojima’s Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. And, appropriately, the watches Hamilton made for the game are also one of the most distinctive watches they have ever made.
game
This is not the first video game tie-in Hamilton has ever finished. In 2021, they created a special version of khaki field titanium. It appeared in Ubisoft’s Big Budget First-Person Shooter Far Cry 6 and was also available for purchase in real life. However, this Death Stranding 2 Watch is a much more unusual product. This is very appropriate.

Even veteran gamers are a difficult question to explain the plot and gameplay of Death Stranding 2, but here’s the essence. (Like many Kojima games, Death Stranding 2 has famous actors like Reedus and Léa Seydoux, offering portraits via motion capture and characteristically complex plots.) The core gameplay loop unfolds postpost landscapes, supernatural forces, and provides scattered landscapes. The first death streak was set in the ruined US, but this sequel is set in Mexico and Australia. Australia excites me as an Australian.

I really managed to get a weed that explains more about the world of death. And although we don’t know all the details as the game is not yet out of the way, the game still causes rain to fall, known as “Time Fall,” which speeds up time and damages your gear. This is worth mentioning. This is because in one of the trailers you get a close-up of a clock that runs very fast and irregularly, as affected by Time Fall. Thankfully, clocks don’t run fast in real life…
case
Officially, this Hamilton belongs to the American Classic Boulton collection, but as hinted at the time the news of this watch was dropped, it hardly resembles the much more traditional watch seen on the wrist of Indiana Jones’ Harrison Ford. It is closely designed with the famous art director Yojinkawa of Kojima Productions, and it is much more watches and matches the sci-fi environment of SF Death Stranding 2.
The Hamilton American Classic Boulton Death Stranding 2 Limited Edition has an unusual case measuring 36mm wide and 48mm long, 48mm wide, to use its aptly named, and is made from black PVD coated titanium and features seven sapphire crystals. This allows the watch to display the dial from multiple angles, providing a sense of airiness that disguises the presence of the watch’s notable wrist.
Dial
It leads us to talk about dialing. For the dial, there is a matte central dial section with tar-like grain edges stuck there. This is one of the hazards for players in Death Stranding 2.
Because of a watch intended to live in space with so many complex and futuristic gadgets, this Hamilton dial is surprisingly restrained. It is a three-person hander with a relatively simple dial, and the main novelty is that it is displayed through this unusual crystal superstructure. In fact, the metal band is a somewhat vague part of the dial from the top down. It looks sturdy and reinforced, but this is certainly a feature-formed case.
bracelet
The Hamilton American Classic Boulton Death Stranding 2 Limited Edition is completed by a broadlink PVD titanium bracelet with butterfly clasp and quick release spring bar. The links emit a functional and robust appearance and make them quite neat and clear. If not, the watch will become a real monster on your wrist.
Movement
Under the hood is the movement of the caliber H-10, the ubiquitous powermatic 80 from the Hamilton version of the Swatch Group. The 80-hour power reserve and nivocron balance spring provide extra resistance to magnetic fields, temperature changes and shocks. The Death Stranding 2 logo adorns the caseback of the exhibition, with details of the Inky Tar adjacent to the movement. Interestingly, this watch is water resistant to up to 50 meters. This is slightly less than you would expect from a watch designed to survive the Apocalypse, but perhaps a concession to promote its intricate dial crystal structure.
verdict
As hinted at the beginning of this review, compared to previous video games, Hamilton has really been all over the board with this American classic, like the tying with Far Cry 6, or some of the tying in films like the Doctrine Clock. It looks exactly like the counterparts in the video game universe, but doesn’t compromise on functionality or form (but it’s a simple three-glat). Hamilton deserves praise for allowing South Korea and Niijima to accurately realize their vision in real life.
If we are honest here, then the intended audience for this watch is a gamer. But put the two connections of death aside. This is an objectively very cool watch. It is unique and architectural, but reasonably affordable. An article in a statement that merits outside the context of the Isle’s masterpiece that surrounds the heart. Don’t make any mistakes. Kojima is about betting on what Otelians like Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese are in the cinema…but you don’t have to be a fanboy on the island to like this watch.
In fact, this Hamilton is important as it represents how the video game industry continues to mature and gains mainstream recognition. In the world of watches, I’ve become accustomed to watchmakers working with fashion brands, celebrities, Formula 1 teams and film studios. Perhaps this kind of thing – video game prop clocks become equally common when it becomes a real-life clock. It’s a brave new world, people…
