Gerald Charles has rolled out a stable release to support the 25th anniversary. Among these debuts is a new version of the Maestro 3.0 Chronograph, featuring Metierdo Art in the form of a Tapisserie clous de Paris dial. The release also includes two case materials.
I spent time at the Gerald Charles booth at Watches and Wonders 2025. I saw some new pieces during the meeting, including GC sports tennis. The highlight, however, was the new Maestro 3.0 chronograph. As you can see, the two new works include a highly detailed dial and an impressive thin case.
The inspiration behind the new Maestro 3.0
Naturally, Gerald Genta’s designs influenced Gerald Charles’ watch collection. The latest chronographs take clues from 2006 sketches and final concept watches. The GC33 displays a Baroque case shape that was designed by Genta in 2005. However, instead of a simple three-hand design, the watch has added chronograph complexity and texture dials. The new 2025 model shows clear signs of design for nearly 20 years, but subtle improvements have been made to modernize the overall form.
New Maestro 3.0
The latest Gerald Charles models do not mark an entirely new model line. Maestro 3.0 debuted in 2021 with a sunburst dial and a stainless steel, titanium and gold case. In 2025, the brand will raise the ante with a mini-tapiserie de paris dial and a sunburst finish. The Ice Blue Variant is paired with a polished stainless steel case.
The contrasting version features a Grade 5 titanium case from Dark Blast Media Blast and a gray mini Tapisery dial. Each reference has a black-on-silver outer minute track and a corresponding subdial. The center hand, which is shaped like a round baton index, is filled with white Super Luminova.
Impressively thin automatic chronograph
Aside from the beautiful dial, the other striking detail on the Maestro 3.0 is the size. The 39mm x 41mm case has a profile of just 11.5mm. On the wrist, it feels compact, comfortable and firm. A screwed crown and 100m depth rating help to enhance these observations. The case design sticks to the wrist and the pusher profile matches the shape of the case. Gerald Charles also envisions the daily wear of these watches with vulcanized rubber straps and case matching pin buckles in white or ice blue.
Gerald Charles 3.0 Movement by Vaucher
Like all Gerald Charles watches, Maestro 3.0 uses the Manufacture Vaucher Fleurier movement. Importantly, the 351-part automatic diameter is only 6.07mm thick. The frequency is 28,800Vph and a 50-hour power reserve. In addition to the time, the watch has a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour total agent, a chronograph middle seconds, and a small running seconds display. In 2025, each watch will display the 25th anniversary logo with a honeycomb motif central rotor.
General Thoughts on Maestro 3.0
Every time I review a Gerald Charles watch, I am always forced to mention that these works are worth seeing firsthand before rendering their final opinions. The shape of the case is polarized and certainly somewhat controversial, but it works well on the wrist. Plus, it’s a good idea to try a watch with a different shape that’s not afraid to stray from the norms. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the watch is finished in line with expectations for the upper brand.
Thinking, pricing, and availability
Maestro 3.0 pieces with a Clous de Paris dial can be ordered on the Gerald Charles website and are required approximately two months before delivery. The stainless steel ice blue model costs 23,000 euros, while the grey titanium piece is listed for 24,100 euros. Considering the prices of other models from the brand, that’s not surprising, it’s alongside other high-end brands. The dial is a nice, detailed option compared to the sunburst reference and should appeal to anyone who enjoys finishing the texture. I happen to like the ice blue model, but I think there will be additional colors and case materials in the future. Let us know what you think about this latest duo in the comments below.
