Inspired by a trip to Limoges, Borna Boschunjak created a clay-based glass dial for the Model 2. They are the Jas 2 Polus 2 Polus 2 Polus 2 Polus 2 Polus 2 Polus 2, with a small 36mm mounted in 2025 at the moment only available on the 39.5mm Model 2.
Anordain has built a reputation for offering affordable artisan dials, focusing primarily on the production of unique takes of vitreous enamel. The Scottish brand has brought the art back to the British Isles, but is always looking for new challenges. So, after several years of residence and development, inspired by the summer summer to the Chateau near Limoges, France, Anorden’s dialmaking boffin came to work with the help of artisans at Stoke-on-Trent. The porcelain of the Anordain Model 2 takes a completely romantic and traditional approach to crafts in all the brushed cases, with a modest and unassuming.
Of course, there is no better place than the dial. Anordain proudly states that the Model 2 porcelain, unlike other brands, does not simply use zirconia ceramic discs with holes for pinions. But to be rather fair, they also will be happy to point out that using a simple opaque dial in black or white, the finished product is quite similar when you place the enamel and porcelain next to it. For the Model 2 porcelain, the final touch is once again the style of numbers and hands. The Art Deco typeface is very fit, with the bright white infill contrasting with the golden tones of hands and printing, with flashes of color from the non-commercial red seconds hand.
And if you’re confused about the whole thing in ceramic porcelain enamel, don’t worry – Buffy has you covered. But in a nutshell, the anorden enamel dial consists of a layer of painted, colored glass powder heated to bond with the metal dial blank. Meanwhile, the porcelain dial is clay (silica and aluminum oxide) based, and is coated with vitreous glaze and fired to 1,300 degrees.
The dial is by no means obvious, but I’m happy that Anordain chose this particular Model 2 brushed case. It really makes the ceramic shine, but I think I appreciate one or two sophisticated chamfers. Without them, the case will be a little flat for such a cool watch. In any case, the sizing is spot-on for a versatile wearing experience at 39.5mm wide and 11mm high, with easy-to-manage 46mm lug-to-lug and 50m water resistance.
Finally, although it is not visible, Anordain continues to use the La Joux-Perret G101 exercise. This stands out from the crowds of the ETA 2824/Selita SW200, with a significant improvement in the 68-hour power reserve and a significant improvement in aesthetics. Architecturally, it is a cousin of the Miyota 9000, which is derived from Switzerland. Salt-worthy watch fans are what we say are great moves for their reliability, maintainability and thinness. That said, considering the closed caseback, you won’t see it.
